WE have a post a pic of your rail.
Now that the seasons coming to a close lets get a "POST A PIC OF YOUR DROP IN" thread. This will also help with all the repetative threads on drop in plans. I dont have on yet so post away.
Heres my relocated summer setup after my neighbor complained about my turf being on his property (which I wasn't quite sure where the line began and whatnot). Anyways, this is as big as I can build it on my property and I will probably add PVC/orange fence. But I have one question: orange fence seems to only come in 100ft long rolls, is there any way I can buy less than that? https://youtube.com/watch?v=qUmq_INwvds
Hughessurely decreasing the surface area just increases the pressure of the skis on the turf?
the real world physics of skiing is much more nitty gritty that what gets covered in your high school class. turf isn't necessarily a surface with a constant coefficient of friction, it is several small pieces of plastic fibers. i don't know the physics behind it but it's been shown to work that decreasing surface area in a summer ski setup works for speed in addition to water, soap, and tightness of the turf.
-WZ-Had mine finished for a month or so, still thinking about making it a bit taller but im running out of room in the yard :/
Also have a metal rail that i found but i cant figure out how to mount it to anything..
sorry for the photo bomb in this thread, but very happy with what i changed! some bigggg upgrades were made.
I raised it from 5.5 feet to 7.5, shortened the tranny by 5 feet and raised the lip by 2. Also made a 20ft skinny tube and better supports for my old wide pvcs. next rail im thinking of making is either a waterfall or flat down flat. :)
And it was , for 10 sessions or so. Than I just starting loosing speed. Pushing off with the poles and keeping everything wet and soaped just stopped working.
I guess I need to make it taller next time :(

Hm. Thats weird usually they get faster each hit. Is that blue material turf?
Yeah the kind of turf I have is fast, I just picked it up at home depot. But over the months it has been bent in the direction I ski which makes it faster.
NikolicIt's carpet. You think it would be good with turf? Also what kind?
You don't need to get actual astro turf, that shit can be pretty expensive. Instead just get some kind of outdoor carpet at your local landscape or hardware store. Imo the shorter the bristles on the carpet, the faster/smoother you slide. Outdoor carpet is also really cheap in comparison astroturf.

So do u guys think, if I get that turf I wouldn't have to build a new setup? It's about 6 feet 6

Your tranny is too long. If it was shorter, the height would be almost perfect.
So it's time to start skiing again and I need your advice.
As I previosly posted my setup looked like this:
The blue material is thin carpet. Setup is about 1.9m and it all worked for around 10 sessions then there wasn't enough speed. So a few days ago I decided to change it.
This is what I thaught of (I know my paint skills are awful):
Basically just raise the height and shorten the flat part. AND most important change carpet for TURF.
Do you think that would be enough??

Probably just changing out the turf/carpet would work but if still struggling, yes do what you said
