WE have a post a pic of your rail.
Now that the seasons coming to a close lets get a "POST A PIC OF YOUR DROP IN" thread. This will also help with all the repetative threads on drop in plans. I dont have on yet so post away.
Not that it matters a ton, but I would cover those crossboards on the drop in with some carpet or something. I know park skis get trashed, but it would probably greatly extend your skis life.
Had mine finished for a month or so, still thinking about making it a bit taller but im running out of room in the yard :/
Also have a metal rail that i found but i cant figure out how to mount it to anything..
yea, if i make it taller i think i might take out the plastic lattice, grab some more construction fence and raise the jump/tranny so i can add some height to the pvcs because right now their just drilled into flatground supports. With the lattice i take out maybe ill use it for a landing idk. Also have two 10' 1" metal rails that i wanna join but i cant figure out how, right now i have a piece of wood that i cut a slit for it to rest on but i really wanna make a double barrel!
Well, I am about to make a decision on drop in material. Turf vs. short polyester carpet, I was feeling them and the polester carpet felt much slicker than the turf. Anyone with any knowledge of turf vs. polyester? If not, I will probably just buy some 6ft x 2ft sections of both just to test out, it the polyester carpet is better than turf and is the new snowflex, then I win.

Honestly alot of it is the amount of surface touching the bases of your skis, if you think it Will work id say go for it but idk turf with construction fence will always be my go to after trying out a few different materials

-WZ-Honestly alot of it is the amount of surface touching the bases of your skis,
Surface area does not have an effect on friction. Although it might play in with distribution of normal force, i don't konw i didn't pay much attention in physics. Anyways, the coefficient of friction is the best at determining how fast something will slide. I have a friend that used laminated wood flooring on their drop in and it's faster than ice- even though every part of the ski base was touching the wood.

Hmm well I say go for it! I was just warning you because on my dropin I tried turf, construction fence, plastic lattice, a pool cover and outdoor carpet and I found that construction fence with turf works the best. Best of luck!
I have had the blessing of having a little vertical in the land at my cabin. The slope means that I don't even have to build a drop in and as long as I have soapy water on the inrun I have plenty of speed. The turf is held down by 9 inch long spikes, the lip is a plywood frame on top of dirt- which supports the plywood. All that's missing is a landing (video on my insta demonstrating why that is problematic), but I have some spare carpet i'll try to lay down there.

It was freakin awesome today! The donkey dick gave me enough pop to go for a truckie out. Also it's detachable for when I want to learn some things on just a flat rail.
Unfortunately, my drop in is on my neighbor's property and he was a real ass about it (I didn't know the property lines, it's in the woods between the two properties). I promptly took the setup down and felt really down. Anyways, I'm working on putting it in another location that would work well (inrun is steeper and shorter), but this time I'm going to work with the guy on the property lines this time.

I've been waiting to see a pic of this for a while. I'm surprised you do so well with speed with such a long tranny. I struggle even on my cannon of a drop in
Probably gonna have to rebuilt/ adjust the lip of mine. It kicks us back super hard. To be forward enough to get on the rail without killing ourselves, we either have to lean all our weight forward and not get a good pop at all, or we nollie off the lip which my friends can do, but I suck at. It's just super hard. Maybe that's how all set ups are? Maybe we're just being bitches. Thoughts?
We definitely have enough speed when we wet it down right. It's almost 7 feet tall haha. I was thinking if we flatten(?) the lip so it's like 3 inches lower, the angle would work better and that would also help the transition. It's pretty sharp but if the lip wasn't as steep it would probably make it feel less sharp. Maybe? and that wouldn't involve a whole lot of work which would be ideal.
can somebody post a pic of a wider style drop in? i mean the kind that is wider and you can side approach rails and also go straight. just need some ideas because i might try building one like it
