Premiere CS3 and After Effect.

Hey everyone

Am starting to play around with Premiere at the minute, and am realising that you can pretty much do everything with the software itself. I wonder how many people here use After Effect and mainly why do you use it ?
Also I wonder , how do you guys perfectly synch the music to the video, is there a better way to do it ?

after effects is used mainly by me for vfx and color correcting which i am pretty horrible at but getting better haha. or i use it too use twixtor for slowmotion.

but there is lots of possibilities with after effects that premiere dosent really have. I only use premiere for final cutting and cropping basicly.

one of the great things about after effects is it has nearly limitless potential. If you say that premiere does the same as after effects, you have a bit of learning to do. Im not gonna get in to the hundreds if not thousands of things that ae can do that premiere cant, but check out some after effects tutorials, try creative cow.

Premiere: cutting, file organization, basic effects (cropping etc), colour correction.

After Effects: time remapping/ramping, detailed colour correction, advanced VFX, animation.

well ya cause you can't cut with after effects.
basically Premiere is an editing program where as after effects is like photoshop for video

Probably a smart move

premiere is basicly the same as most other non linear video editing programs (fcp, pinnacle, avid)

once you get the hang of basic video editing, check after effects out, its a really great program

I think most people who use AE edit in premiere, and create small segments in AE that they import. Not many people do full projects in AE

Yeah, everything everyone has said is pretty much right on.

Once you want to learn AfterEffects though, here are some really good tutorials:

Lots of stuff there to get your creative juices flowing.
