"I got bored, so I switched to snowboarding"

So, I hear this come out of probably half the snowboarders from Ontario... they grew up skiing, then at some point they switched to snowboarding because they got bored of skiing.

This statement holds some meat if they switched to snowboarding say, in 1995... but those that switched since like '97 or something bug me.

I don't think this thread is very good. I just wanna get it off my chest.

When I got bored of regular skiing, I switched to freestyle skiing.

I switched to boarding in like 01 but then back to skiing in like 04.

I only snowboarded because it was the "cool" thing to do, and I was 12.  I love boarding though, I get a couple days in a season on one.

I did some snowboarding for two years back in '96. Definitely a lot of fun but still doesn't compare to how skiing makes me feel

well i switched to boarding cause i really didnt know freestyle skiing existed where i lived, then i saw the local team for the first time when i switched home mts, the next season i quit boarding, season after that i picked up freestyle, the joined the team. but my home mt gets really boring come febuary, especially on weekends when its just rediculously packed, so i go to the rental shop, ask my friends who work there for a board rental, domintate on a snowboard (which isnt that hard) for a few hours, swithc back and blow away the weekend warriors who say me boarding an hour before...shits fun

I got bored of skiing this year because I wasnt pushing myself so I picked up snowboarding.  I will never "Switch."

I learned how to ski when I was like 3 or 4 and never went then I switched to snowboarding from when I was 5 til when I was 11 then when I turned 12 I picked up a pair of juvies and I have skied since then.

i would do that too!!!

but i had a clam infection so he wants me to ski to let breeze go up my legs and what not...

i know what you mean

i have a friend who is a gaper and hes like ive been skiing for 12 years and i just got bored. Meanwhile hes only been like 5 times in the past 5 years. hes never tried freestyle and he thinks that snowboarding is the "cool" thing to do.

i was a ski racer, then started snowboarding when i was like 11 for 3 years, then saw teddybear crisis and started skiing park. snowboarding was fun but i had no inspiration to get better.

I tried snowboarding a couple years ago. i picked it up really quick and messed around. I actually stopped because i found it boring and wasn't good. I hated being scared to go really fast unlike on skis. And i also hated falling when just cruising because im not used to it, i dont fall anymore when im just cruising around...

I think snowboarding is fun... i'm not that great at it so I usually do it when I go w/ some friends who aren't that fast down the mountain.  They're different sports... you can't really compare to two.  Some people like skiing more (I'm one of those people) and some like snowboarding more... who cares as long as you're having fun.

It's either your a true skier and do and think about it all the time or your a snowboarder. But how can you get bored of skiing there so many things to do. Race, moguls, and freeski, u can do so much in freeski, but like i said your prob not a true skier.

i dont think i won't get board of skiing cuase u can always excell and get better and better.... ive tried snow boarding now and then on my freinds bored its fun but skiing is way more stlye

If you ask me snowboarding and skiing are ridiculously similar.  Snowboarding is closer to skiing than to skateboarding or something.

the pain in my wrists/ass/knees/back/head after a day of falling all over the place was terrible. And not just like falling over, catching edged and violently bashing body parts against the usually hard snow.

ive only tried once but only cuz this boarder wanted to ski real bad and we were same shoe size so we switched for the night. anyways he had the skate banana and i had heard tons of hype but the rocker wasnt noticeable it hurt like shit falling but he loved skiing and wanted to do it again he thought skiers had better style and looked cooler

I've never snowboarded before, I don't really want to. People just think it's a cool thing to do, maybe it is. But still, skis all the way.

my friend skied for like 4 years, switched to boarding, now he sees me and all my other skiing friends doing cool skiing things and he wishes he stuck with skiing....he says its cause skiing is easier and he'd be way better at skiing....

I'm a boarder, but I do enjoy hopping on a pair of skis every once in a while. I don't ski all the time though, because I have a super messed up knee, and I'm scared to death of the twisting motion that can happen while skiing.
