Has anyone got a new lisence plate for college

i am from mass and i go to saint michaels. i heard that it costs less money to get a vermont plate then to register a mass plate again. next year i will be living off campus. i was just wondering if it is worth getting a new lisence and shit just to save a couple bucks. has anyone else done this?

yes it does allow you in state tuition i know many who have done it, it may vary by school though and i have not personally done it.

pretty sure its more then just registration costs i believe its a lot less tax wise to have your car registered in vermont

sick! is this a way around the "living in state for 6 months to claim instate residence" rule?

or is it one in the same, like you gotta live in state for 6 months to get the plates?

cause going to college in Fl is gonna cost a lotttttt when i live in NY right now

to get instate tuition you have to live there for a year, get your drivers license in that state and file some tax returns proving you have a job there. Fairly sure those are the basic requirements but you should check with the college. i dunno if that what this thread is about. but yea.

ya, thats prety much what i am getting at. if if got a new lisence and plate, i could pay less for the car and in a year get cheaper admission i guess.

worddd i go there. i haven't switched mine but i have heard it's cheaper. don't know the technical stuff, just what the dude downstairs told me once.

ah i ment a year not 6 months.

i still have to look into it/ talk to the college to see what the deem as livingin state, but that sounds like what theyll want.

in state tuition is way harder to get in a lot of schools. im trying at cu boulder right now and i have to have complete financial disclosure to show my parents arent supporting me, have to turn in a copy of my parents federal income taxes, my own income taxes, live here for a year, drivers license, show dates i left the state and explain why, have my parents affirm/swear they havent set up any future provisions for me and get it notarized, i have a 12 page excell sheet of every dollar i spent in the last year where it came from and what it was for plus the reciets. in addition to filling out a long ass petition and proving my intent to permanately stay here. that is literally less than half of what i need to do for it and i dont even know if ill end up getting it
