Anyone been to/heard about traveling to the Greek Isles?

I haven't but I'm definitely going to before I croak.

i was watching a show on tv. it was either history channel or national geographic. BUT the place looked amazing. the water water crystal clear white, houses were built on the edges of cliffs. i say you go for, i would go if i had the opportunity

I went a few years ago. just hopped around from eos to mykonos to crete and to santorini. a couple day trips to aegina, hydra and poros. For sure the best islands on that side are eos and mykonos. Santorini is super beautiful but when I was there the party was extremely lacking. Mykonos is the gay mecca of Greece. Its a pretty funny site. Euros have a ridiculous metro vibe to them in the first place. The actual homosexuals are about as insane as it comes. We camped everywhere. I stayed on paradise beach in Mykonos. 7 euro a night to camp just off an amazing beach, plus the night club on the beach is ridiculous. I didnt know alot about electronic music when I went there but alot of big name guys played and I just didnt know it. The girls were ridiculously good looking, but kinda hard to pick up. The beaches are nude but for sure, Paradise had the hottest chicks. Eos is like mykonos, I just liked the campsite in mykonos better so we were there longer. The greek islands are all about 24 hour parties. If you have the time getting on the train, going to patras then taking the ferry to corfu is totally worth it. Its a day to travel from the islands on one coast to the islands on the other, but its completely different. Mykonos, Eos and those islands are arid and rocky. On corfu, its super tropical. Palm trees, super lush green hills. Plus the pink palace is one of the craziest hostels in the entire world. If your there during the summer, I promise you the best time of your life. The place is packed, and all its just 24 hour good times. The hostel has a massive club, but they run club hopping adventures into the close towns. The is a booze cruise that they run that turns into the biggest shit show I have even been apart of. They get you so wasted. Half the boat stripped totally naked to go cliff jumping and after that it was just a sea of tits and uninhibited behaviour. Definitely check it out. You will get laid every single night.

^ great review. I've been to greece twice, the only islands I went to were crete and santorini (and poros which is cool, but not really for the beaches). Only go to greece for the beaches, the mainland sucks hard. Greek people are a little rude. If you see signs that say domatia check it out, a lot of the houses are built like mini apartment buildings that people rent out. You can get a hotel quality room with a balcony and tv's and shit for like 30 euros, way cheaper than any hotels. Camping also works. I would recommend only bringing a backpack and renting a scooter, it's cheap, a great way to get around, and if you're camping and drunk wearing a helmet to bed makes a decent pillow. Honestly though if you're looking for nice beaches the carribean might be a cheaper b/c of plane tickets. I was in turks and caicos in january and the beaches blew greece out of the water, less people, nicer sand and water.

My mom is an archaeologist who works on surveys in crete and I used to go there in the summers with her. I haven't been in years. So i know a little about greece.

I'm a photographer, so what do you think about the islands in that sense? Would they provide some solid photo opportunities? Plus be a solid vacation spot?
