Just got some 09 line invaders (two questions)

I know the ski is perfectly symmetrical but which way are the bindings supposed to go. Is the top or bottom the front of the ski in this picture?

Also if im gona be hitin boxes or rails tomorow will i catch an edge because right now the edges are very sharp. Should i grind them down a bit with a metal file or could that ruin them.

Also do i need to wax bran new skis or do they come waxed.

im going to say either way. I have symmetrical skis but i was able to tell which way was which.

so i think you can go with what ever you think looks good.

and waxing can't hurt. The skis could have been sitting in a warehouse for months. Dirt could be covering them and they could have dried out over time. also, factory waxes arent that great to start with. I would say do a hot wax or a full wax, what ever you want. i did when i got mine

i have mine flipped but it doesn't matter that much. they ski the same either way

i got a pair and put the monkeys in front but thats backwords. Used um unwaxed and they wernt that great so i waxed um and their purfect as for the edges go to town with a metal file, if you dont your top aheet will look like a dog toy

I have an older pair 06/07 and mine are backwards it really doesnt matter if i could do it again i would do one one way and one the other. As for waxing its probably a good idea factory waxes are not that great. And the edges will wear down if you just ride and do rails whatever, but you could file them down if you dont want to do the wearing in yourself.

i think that the normal way they go is the way showed in the picture
but as other people have said it doesn't matter kuz they ski the same both ways

if  i dont have a metal file can i use a rock to dull the edges? or should i try to get a metal file.

try and get a gummy stone, or file. i just hear the gummy stones are a little better.

yep you can mount them either way and you should wax them and i heard that gummy stones are better, but ive never tried them so its up to you on that one

If you're really concerned about which end is the tip and tail, the end where there is a little gap where the edges meet is the tail.

yea thats how mine are.   one ski one way, the other ski the other way.  on the 06/07.

Your edges will dull over time and be just fine for rails. If you are still determined to detune them though, get a fine gummi stone or a diamond stone from a shop and go for it. It will be a good tool to have in the future for knocking down burs as well.

i personally go for a file and then use a gummy stone to finish off the job and get it smooth. a file will take off much more edge so you have to be careful with it if you dont want too much edge off.

which is why a gummy stone is the way to go.
take off the initial edge, and then your first box slide will take care of the rest.

like how long should i spend on each area of the ski with a metal file? should i go over it like 5 or 10 times in one spot or just once or twice??

well if you only like having a little edge off. I personally like having only a little bit of edge there to catch so I go at them heavily with a file, and then finish it off with a gummy stone.

I have the 07 invaders, mounted one forwards one backwards. I don't think there's anything wrong with them. They haven't fallen apart and I don't notice a difference when I ski on them. I don't know about detuning, but these people should have you covered.

If you mount one forwards and one backwards will it affect your skiing?  I mean they say 100% symmetrical.  Do they mean it? or are they just trying to get people to buy skis?

Yeah, they're 100 billion percent symmetrical. At least I didn't feel any effect on my skiing when I did that to mine. J-Lev even said on one of the SIA vids a year or two or three ago that he personally liked mounting them opposite. Maybe you were joking...
