Spruce up your apartment or dorm with a badass ski rack

Just made this sweet ski rack for my apartment, dont know why I didnt think to do something like it sooner.  Cost me like $4 to make.  Just get yourself a long piece of wood and screw it to the studs in your wall.  Then take little pieces of doweling and drill holes in the wood about a cm skinnier than the tip of your ski and hammer the doweling in and voila....... ski rack.

its actually me and my roommates stuff.  mine are the prophets, karmas, and chopsticks.  he has the bents, bridges, ants, and kung fujas.  we actually have a couple other pairs but they arent really cool enough to put on the wall

I like that, I just lean my skis against the wall and my animals knock them over like dominos.  Some simple dowels would keep them from falling over, nice and thanks!

I'm just playing devils advocate here (I actually really like the idea) but couldn't that potentially harm the side walls of the ski?

It seems like that could eventually cause some dents in the side wall from the pressure of the dowel. It probably wouldn't happen quickly, but over summer maybe?

possibly but i doubt it because the dowels are much softer than the steel edges, so the dowels get kinda cut up.  i dont think it should really do anything to them.  wont really be able to find out till next year though because i am graduating and moving out in like 2 months so i will have to take it down but I am going to build another one in my new apartment for sure.  it just looks cool having skis on your wall...... plus chicks dig it haha

when i was in vegas for SIA thats how moment had their ski's. but they took a small piece of rubber to go over the metal they used instead of wood. the rubber was to protect the side walls im guessing.

haha, really? assuming you ski any park, im sure you know a rail is a hundred times harder on your skis than a wooden dowel, and the dowel wouldn't actually put pressure on the sidewalls but the edges and will never dent them

you just put the dowels in slightly skinnier than the widest part of the tip and then when they try to slide down they get caught.  think of it like bar glasses how they are wider at the top so they dont slip through your hand.

i just made it this weekend, so not yet, but i usually dry off my skis with a towel anyway to prevent rust.  but i guess this could be a pretty good way to dry them off too.

me and my roommate did this in our first apt way back in the day. Cept we didn't bother to find studs so it would just rip out of the drywall every 3 weeks or so. ahaha stoners.

yeah i take super good care of my stuff i wax like every 3 or 4 times up and i tune my edges and stuff.  i figure if each pair costs like 500 -900 bucks i shouldnt just let them go to shit, usually my skis last like 4 years

I tried doing the same thing for my dorm room, but I can't drill into my walls without getting fined/bitched at. Any ideas that don't involve screwin' into the wall?

it would take a little more work but you could make a stand to hold this type of design, or you could just make a box on the floor with holes the size of you ski like they have for gondolas that would just hold them upright.

The worst is when all of your skis fall over like dominos like the kids said above. Its so fucking loud and sometimes you can see them falling over and you know theirs nothing you can do. this helps

haha yeah my roommate has like 8 pairs so we had like 12 pairs in our hallway right next to the bathroom and when people would get drunk they would always get knocked over, so we just left them on the floor half of the time.
