the actual top should be good for skiing, i hiked it last may and there was still 3 feet of snow up there, i was really bummed i didnt bring my skis. but what about skiing down the actual trail?
you can pretty much ski anywhere on the mountain. The summit cone is really nice but it can get kind of wind buffed. the trail is a fun ski as well. you can ski all the way to marcy dam which is about 5 miles and almost all the way back to the loj, theres only a few small up hills. theres ton of chutes and glades and such hidden everywhere up there too. all you gotta do is search. there not too hard to find
Right now the snow up there his really bad. In good snow, you can ski for amost 7 miles striaght, kinda flat but not bad i guess. Deffanatly some better stuff then macry though.
skied colden and marcy a week ago, decent spring conditions. make sure you got snowshoes or are skinning up. crampons are a good idea if youre going to be summiting marcy, above treeline was solid ice last week.
