War in mexico?

so this summer i might be studying abroad for two months in Guadalajara Mexico but recently I've heard alot about how the drug war in mexico is getting worse every day but i don't really know what the whole deal is with it. can somebody inform me of whats going down there and whether or not i should study abroad there this summer. (read is it safe for me to study there this summer)

Yeah the drug war is getting worse.... but if you aren't an idiot and dont go to one of the bad places in Mexico, you should be fine.

I went to Mexico in May for a month and the drug war was going on then, too. It has been for years. We had to stop at checkpoints every so often and be searched by guys with machine guns. The federali (sp) came to the ranch I stayed at as well because there was an old air strip and they were monitoring it for drug planes.

I survived without a scratch or even a bad comment. Don't travel alone or into places you aren't sure about and everything will be wonderful. It's a beautiful place.
