Racing to Freestyle Skiing

Notice how great freestyle skiing is.
I dont know one person who has switched from freestyle to racing.
Yet i know like 50 people who have switched from racing to freestyle skiing.
I have always been a freestyle skier not racing.
Racing is gay.
Same for everyone else to?
Or it different depending on where you live?
Thoughts...?

i race and ride park
i like park better but racing is a lot of fun and it defiantly helps me being a better park rider.
its just a lot of racers are assholes but i dont think you guys should hate racing just the assholes who are racers

i looked at your pro and you live in NY, where do you go to school?

And same thing with me, I started racing this year for my school just to get more days in on the hill. It actually ended up being pretty fun, and I was half decent at it (/claim).  There are a few people who are annoying as hell, but tons of hot girls, in spandex nonetheless, and a bunch of chill guys.

I race and freestyle. Yes I have 5 pairs of skis. But does that really make me gay??? I bet if any of you guys spent some time with racers you would find that they are humble people. Most of the racers are really cool. But we are all seeking that rush, wheather it is launching off a huge jump or racing down a course.

I both race and freeski.  And i have found that freeskier's can be just as big of asshole's as racers.  I don't think I would skiing at all if it weren't for racing which got me involved in the sport.  Anyone who thinks racing is boring and gay hasn't gone 90km/h in a course, it's a bigger rush than hitting a big kicker

they both have their own place. the only time i think racing is gay is when racers come into the park with spyder shorts and shin guards and crowd up the place but cant do shit, but thats a two way street

I live in NH and i started out racing but even when i was little i loved the jumps and boxes. last year i bought my first twin tips and now i freestyle and race. they're both fun and take tons of skill. this year i placed 18 at states for racing (and im a freshman) and learned 5s, 270 ons and off and other stuff in park this year. both fun and challenging

OKAY HERE IS THE FUCKING ANSWER TO THIS WHOLE FUCKING THREAD. it doesnt matter what u ski being it racing or freestyle. all it depends on is ur personality. every sport comes with dicks as well as chill nice people. so if u meet a person who is a racer they could be a dick or chill. same goes to freestyle . there will be dicks and nice people.

I kind of feel like I may be about to post a mute point but I just thought I'd throw this in anyway. The majority of responses I've seen in this thread have been from kids who both race and freestyle ski. That should be an answer in  itself. I'm not hating on you or anything OP ... just sayin ... being a new kid on the block, I'm almost a little surprised this hadn't been addressed earlier.
I may or may not come from the other side of the tracks (read: racer) but when I first started to ski the little bit of park I do, I was hanging out with the freestyle coaches from my home hill and all they would ever tell me is that my racing background would help me in park.
But like they said in Detroit Rock City, "Good tunes is good tunes be it disco, rock whatever ..." I apply the same thing to skiing/snowboarding etc ... except snowblades. Snowblades are NOT good tunes. (In my humble opinion)

I think that one of the reasons that people call racing "gay" is because of things that we have heard from the racing world. Many young racers dont like it, their parents make them because they were racers when they were young. They want to ski park and powder but their parents dont let them.
And that is fact, I know many racers who have it like that.
And many racers is complete douchebags, but so is many freestyle skiers. I know many racers who is good all around skiers, they can do rails, jumps and powder.

racing likes teh butt seks, but really though any freeskier knows that fast is good, in racing fast is good. flatspins are rodeos are harder than wearing gay spandex and taking a dildo in your ass. a freeskier would be waaaaay better at racing than a racer would be at anything

freestyle skiing is fun because there is no right or wrong way to do things. Racing is fun because if you get down the course faster than the other guy you win. Opposed to freestyle where the judging can be extremely difficult and unfair. I enjoy both and have respect for both

holy shit this thread is crazy. i race on my high school team, and it is kinda fun. With the race team we get to go to mountains for free/really cheep and we get to ski during the week when we normally couldn't. ...racing also gets your non-park technique better for shredding the rest of the hill. all that being said, i still like the park more, but racing def isn't gay.

The thing I have against racing is that there is nothing "free" about it, and I do not understand why people say it is so fun or exhilarating, because you could always find a way to go faster down a mountain than any race course. Also, comparing racing to park seems pretty stupid anyways.

I raced for 13 years, and I think  you can go from racing to freestyle that not to bad I learn front flips and sw 7 my first year. but when you do racing the kids you racing against have done it there whole lives it takes years to learn how to do as well as the kids who have been racing for 5, 6, 10 years so most people don't even try, and I'm not saying freestyle is easy cuz it not I still can't grab when I spin shits hard.
