Well I have a medium Ronin jacket right now, and I can fit a hoodie under it. I want to do that with my jacket for next season, but I don't want to look poofy.
It depends on what line the jacket is from. Jackets in the freedom line are like oakley baggy fit. Jackets in the revolver line are slim and long, but a nice cut if you're into that.
i have a special blend autograph gore-tex jacket in XL. gore-tex is superb for those moist stevens pass days. body is a longer cut than most jackets, but the sleeves could be longer. (backcountry.com's description states "Special Blend gave the Autograph Jacket an extra three inches of length for added protection"). its the opposite of my burton jackets which have super long sleeves and a short body. and i'm kinda tall.
