it really is a great movie and a good story, buuuuut its unfortunate that he wound up dead because of some pretty stupid mistakes like not preparing his game properly so maggots got on it, not knowing that there was a rescue cabin 5 miles from the bus stocked with food, assuming that a river he crossed in the fall would be crossable in the spring. His idealism is commendable but i think it got in the way of his common sense and if he had chosen to be a little more cautious he could have lived a long and exciting life full of adventure.
I've hiked out to the bus and camped all around the savage creek area and its beautiful. im glad it was showcased in the film and the film is definitely good.
