Mad Trix bad for beginner?

My girlfriend has been snowboarding for about 7 years or so and she has been thinking about getting back into skiing. I was thinking about picking up some Mad Trix 163's from Sport Mart mainly because they're the cheapest skis there. Do you think they would be a bad ski? She's about 5'4'.

They're pretty damn stiff, and quite heavy...I wouldn't call them easy skis to learn on.

tough call... mad trix probably aren't great beginner skis, because they are so stiff. it takes a powerful skier to flex them and turn them properly. but then again, they're cheap, which is always good for beginners. if i were you i'd be looking for something more forgiving for her... keep an eye out for 1080's (161), line 1260's (164), or Scratch pro-teens. at this point in the season you should be able to get whatever you want for a pretty good price. just keep an eye open on ebay or on here for deals.

Yeah I agree with the Line reccomendation. But you won't get a decent price on anything related to skis off ebay during ski season.

Ya I heard that they're pretty stiff, but she rides a Burton Balance snowboard which is a pretty stiff snowboard and she's a pretty strong rider. She has skied in the past so I think she will learn quickly.
The girl at sportmart was trying to convince me to get the Rossignol Axium skis, but I'm afraid she will outgrow them in a month.
I was thinking about getting the mad trix and either buying the Salomon C710's ($120) or throwing on an old pair of Look Bindings I have from about 12 years ago. I really don't have alot of money to spend and this seems like the best way to get her some decent skis.

Ugh...710s suck... go ask for old stock at a ski store and get some better bindings. And don't listen to the sports store people, the majority of the sales force doesn't havea clue. Some of the shop guys prolly would, tho.
