Taking off pole handles ++k

ok so my mom bought me poles for christmas that were WAY too big so I was using my older ones that I liked because they are shorter but they broke so my question is can I take off the pole handles on the bigger poles to cut them down a few inches? any help would be nice ++k

Boil a big pot of water, stick the grips in there and let them sit for like 15 minutes. Take them out, shove them between a door and the door jam and pull. They'll slide off. Turn off the stove and let the grips sit in the water while you cut them. Come back in, slide the grips back on, turn the pole upside down and smash it on the floor.

Make sure to take off the strap, won't be too big of a problem if it doesn't come off.

Search bar. Try "cut down poles" or something of that sort.

Or run the handles under hot water, jam them in a door and yank

you don't even need to boil water.
First - Take the wrist straps off (unscrew the screw in the top)
Second - Open door (it's easiest to have one the opens towards you)
Third - Put grip in door (between frame and door)
Fourth - Hold onto the rest of the poll as you put your foot on the door and yank that shit out.
Fifth - Get the hack saw out and cut off desired amount (after this I would recommend filling down the cut off part, just the smooth it out)
Finally - Put the handle back on (just slide it back on - you may need to twist it a bit) and screw the straps back on)

and there you have it, shorter polls. hope this helped, good luck.

rubbing alcohol and it should twist off pretty easily

if you have a heat gun or you cna use your moms hairdryer, you can heat up the grips till they are pretty hot and then just pull them right off. Then you can cut them down, and slide the grips right back on.

i just ran mine under hot water and they slid right off... no need to boil water

I would also as a final precaution put some gorilla glue in your pole grips before you slid them back on.  I've had problem in the past with my grips coming back off while i was skiing, so the next time i cut poles in put some gorilla glue in and they are NEVER coming off from normal use.  Gorilla glue works by expansion when the resin in the glue oxidizes.  If you don't have gorilla glue, you might have something else around that works the same way.  You want to use a glue like this because it expands and takes up empty space.  Not a big deal, but you may want to put some downward pressure on the grip when you use a glue like this because the adhesive is libel to push the grip back up as it expands and cures.  just a few pounds will suffice.
