Screw glue

i say fuck it and load all the holes with crazy glue. but dont blame me if you rip out.

If the hole is stripped your best bet would be a helicoil. Im guessing it will rip out again if you just put glue into the hole.

If you are too/cheap/lazy to bring it to a shop to get a proper helicoil this would probably be your best bet (provided your ski is wood core):

Put slow drying epoxy in the hole (24 hour) and place a tight fitting hardwood dowel/plug in the hole. Put a clamp around the ski pushing down on the dowel. In 24 hours remove the clamp and saw/cut off the dowel. Sand it to a nice even finish, flush with the rest of the ski. Redrill the hole with a 3.5mm (9/64th inch) drillbit (put a stop on the bit so it doesn't go more then about 8.5mm into the ski. Apply more epoxy to the newly drilled hole (about 3/4th full). Put the binding peace back on. wait 24 more hours. ski.

If it's only one hole stripped out this should work fine. more then 2 holes stripped and your fucked unless you get it helicoiled.

kind of off topic here but a friend just got some skis online but he has bindings, there's no shop near him so he had the online shop drill the skis but not mount them, he asked me what kind of glue to use before sticking the screws in, i usually use wood glue but i think epoxy is better, anyone got any help on this? basically like wood glue, epoxy, or something else?

If I'm not mistaken, the glue is mostly for waterproofing so it wouldn't matter that much.

Epoxy is important for forming a bond between the ski and the screw. Not just for waterproofing.

Ok, I wasn't sure if the epoxy really did much or if it is mostly the screws.

On my urban skis, the toepiece broke and I was wondering if its fixable. The toepiece is kinda 2 parts, theres the plate thats on the ski and then the peice that holds my boot down that looks kinda like a spaceship is screwed into the plate part, the threds that the screw on the spaceship go into are plastic and they got ripped out so the plastic threds are wrecked.

Fixable??Keep in mind that they are urban skis so they wont be hitting any big jumps but I dont want the toepiece to rip out and then fall on my face on some stairs. (sorry if that was really confusing to read)

How it is.      The screw in the middle of the top part ripped out and wrecked the plastic threds in the bottom part. Fixable?

It's still hard to see exactly what is goin on there...but I'd toss those Sallys anyway. Salomon has made some nice clamps over the years...those are among them. The AFD is horrid and the toe wings are the suck also.
