just wondering...does anyone know of any good editing programs that are free or cheap.  right now i just use windows movie maker, but i hear from people that it's very basic and that there are a lot of better programs out there.
any suggestions??

If you have to hear from others that WMM is basic then you should just stick with WMM..

you could get something that looks better than a wmm edit by taking your dv tapes and shoving them into a pile of your feces. If you want a good looking edit use something decent like after effects or maybe premiere. They have a steep learning curve, especially ae, so be warned.

yes nice job... get the guy to go from windows movie maker to after effects! no... I would suggest in order of quality ( they are roughly all the same difficulty) from worst to best: 1: I movie, sony vegas, adobe premier, final cut express.

yah I used to rather sony vegas but its the hard truth! I used to like sony more because its what I was used to

after effects is not a stand alone editor...primarley for 3d and "special effects" ect... not for all your editing
