kill my karma for making another thread but i need help and my parent(s) are being insanely overacknowledged

i am looking for a 40D with a lens, ive used the 28-135 is usm canon lens before and have used a 40D

im looking refurbished due to a lack of funds, is there any problem with refurbished?
price of the camera and lens im looking at is 800 refurbished, is this decent? ive looked on ebay and i dont trust it because of the amount of useless crap they throw onto their packages. but for now i like the 28-135 as my starting lens,

staying in canon
40D for sure
lens? open to suggestions, looking for a body+ lens tho
Refurbished? problems with them? anybody ever done it?
price savers and sites to look on?
advice needed asap cause need to buy before spring break trip to VEGAS

try craigslist. That way you can try it out before you buy it.
40D is cool, just check out the shutter. The shutter is made for 100K. Since the 40D is not that old, It shouldnt be a problem. I believe it has sensor clean which is good.
I would reccomond the Canon EF-S17-85mm, its made for the cut down sensor (It wont work on the full frame sensors), but that way you will get much better wide angle then the 28-135mm.

Agreed.

I went to a pro photo shop and the guy at the store basically said, "I'm glad that costco sells the 28-135 because they all come into our store looking for something better." The same guy recommended the 17-85 to me which I use with my 40D.

Also, If you can afford it, I HIGHLY recommend the 50mm f1.4 I use this lens way more than I use the 17-85. It's great because it can shoot in basically no light. The only real downside is it doesn't go nearly as wide as the 17-85 (obviously)
