Drop in ramp

 Can anyone help me make up some ideas on how to make a drop in ramp. my parents don't want me spending anymore money on building stuff. My backyard is pretty small, and flat (the worst place possible to have a setup). If it helps, i got some cement blocks and plywood hanging around, and could find some wood if needed. Thx in advance

Join build a jib. You can hit up craigslist and dumpsters at construction sites for free wood and pvc.

I was just wondering: what if I got some really thick dowel rods, like the ones that are 1 in. (idk what they r called, or if they r just really thick rod), slid pvc over them, and put them on a frame, i could make the drop in like a roller.

^^ i know people that have just built a small pvc starter if I am correct I know what your talking about and it just goes right onto turf and its perfect you dont need anything inside it hold alot of weight just dont make them too wide

good idea.  i never would have though of that.

i am also planning on putting together a drop in.
the only thing is i would to design it with my snowboarder brother in mind.  how hard is it to carve off astro turf?

close to impossible, that is why i am deciding not to completely cover my entire backyard in astroturf. That would be expensive, but pretty cool.

I've heard that plastic lattice will work for the drop in...does anyone know if it's true. caz up till now i didn't even know that i had it laying around the house...i thought it was wood lattice. so if it works, i'll use that instead of astro turf

ok so i built the drop in. and idk y, but each time i try it, at the end of it when i reach the ground i pretty much to a face plant. i'm thinking its either my ramp is too steep, or my skis (armada el reys) r just not flexible enought (caz they aren't very flexible).

i have a drop in pvc rail and pvc box for free i need to get ride of it im in the boston area. Send me a message you can probably rent a Uhaul and pick it up.

im building one this summer out of a latter with indoor/outdoor carpet on the rungs. ive herd that the carpet is just like snow whn its wet

A really cheap way to make a drop-in is by placing that orange construction fencing on top of plywood, and it slides pretty well without having to get it wet.

well idk if any of u guys read my comment but it's not the sliding down it thats the problem. its that   (i'm pretty sure) my skis aren't very flexible so i have to come in at a flatter angle.

Every backyard setup I've built has needed about forty feet of space between the drop in and the end of the run out. And that's only with a ten foot rail. When you're doing your calculations, make sure you have enough space before you build everything.

ok so i FINALLY started to build the drop in today, got some work done, but somehow i managed not to get everything done. Hopefully I will finish it tomorrow, I'll post some pics up of it.

O and, I used all wood that was laying around that I could find, so none r pressure treated, should I do something to make the wood durable against water? I was thinking about just putting a primer on the bottom caz i'm gonna b too lazy to paint the whole thing...or should I do something else and make it look cooler.

ok here's my drop in...

It's two parts, the one in the front is the bottom and keeps it REALLY steady. and the top part...which u can barely see, it's right next to the bottom part but a little bit back to the right...well..goes ontop. As for the ramp, I pretty much built a ladder and put plywood on top. On the plywood is plastic latice.

I think it might be a little too tall, so i might trim it down a foot or so...

i wouldn't trim it down, cuz it's never a bad thing to have too much speed for a rail, but too little speed can suck. especially for the testicles...

I was actually just thinkin about it, and if i have too much speed then i'll move the rail further back. so i don't think i'll trim it

well when u stack them both up its about 7 feet...a couple of inches over.

my threads for the diagrams

and my urban setup is simmiler, its about 6 feet tall and its just outdoor carpet and then we lay another peice of wood at the bottom so its not a 45 degree angle to flat,

u mean like a piece of plywood that's not as steep? yea..i might do that too

o and how do u know if the carpet is outdoor carpet. caz i have some carpet laying around my house that we don't use. the carpet has like really short pieces of thread..idk how to describe it...like, it doesn't feel soft, it feels kinda hard...
