Marker 11 bindings (twin cam), thoughts?

putting together a set for myself for next season as i'm giving up the snowboard and wanted to get an opinion on the marker 11 or twin cam bindings. like i said i'm just hopping into twin tips so i wanted to know if this was a decent binding as i found a good price on them. if not, what would you suggest? i'm assuming i want something light that takes some bombing but as i start out i can't image i'll be hitting monster kickers but most lots of rails to start off. any help is appreciated.

Marker bindings have a design flaw in the break. Any crash backwards will destroy your break and you will have to purchase a new one for minimum $20 a piece. Have seen people blow thru 2 a week (i work in a shop.) If you r going with marker go with jester, otherwise go with look or tyrolia, the breaks are way stronger.

are you saying any backward crash will destroy the brake? i'm not discounting waht you say, it just seems odd for a binding that prides itself of free-skiing. like i said i'm just starting out and found these bindings for about 50 online brand new and thought they might be something good to start off with.

The old Marker bindings suck. They break and are notorious for pre release. Buy some Rossi FKS, Jesters/Griffons, or Salomon STH

thanks for the response, just to clarify i'm looking at the 08/09 11.0 twin cam free so it wouldn't be the older version.

I meant older design, but whatever. You asked for advice and people gave it. Ignore it and have fun with shitty bindings

how much do you weigh. im assuming you wont be trashing them cuz you are starting out. people knock em but i had em and im light and they were pretty good.

i'm about 5'11 190, like i said i'm just starting out and will most likely start just hitting rails and small gaps. But i'm just gonna be getting used to having twin tips and skiing in general, i have no problem moving away from these bindings it's just that i'm not gonna be hitting 30 foot gaps with these things.

i think you are too heavy then. i was like 130 when i was on them. look at the px12's. perfect for you.

after looking at the px12's it says the recommended weight for these bindings is 170 lbs, some of the other bindings (the marker and others) say that they support a range of 50-240. shouldn't i work with a binding that actually supports my weight? i'm worried i weigh to much to use the px12 jib bindings

you should be fine on the px12. its a much sturdier binding than anything marker makes aside from the jester/duke design, they ski much better, and are much more durable. absolutely worth spending the extra money on something that will hold up much better for you in the lorg run.

now when you guys are saying px12, should i be going for the jib / lifter/ other? what's the difference? cheers.

Jib: rubber pads to absorb shock

Lifter: plates under the binding to raise it off the ski

You'll want the Look px12 Jib TI, which is a little more expensive, but has a much more durable heelpeice due to metal reinforcements.
