i think i sprained my ankle today and i was wondering if i actually did how long ill be out for

It depends on how bad your sprain in. Usually 1 to several weeks. :(

what degree sprain is it?
i had a 3rd degree and i was out for four months until i went back to doing shit but i should've waited longer.

  • Degree I Ankle Sprain:
      Degree I ankle sprains cause stretching of the ligament. The symptoms tend to be limited to pain and swelling. Most patients can walk without crutches, but may not be able to jog or jump.

  • Degree II Ankle Sprain:
    A degree II ankle sprain is more severe partial tearing of the ligament. There is usually more significant swelling and bruising caused by bleeding under the skin. Patients usually have pain with walking, but can take a few steps.

  • Degree III Ankle Sprain:
    Degree III ankle sprains are complete tears of the ligaments. The ankle is usually quite painful, and walking can be difficult. Patients may complain of instability, or a giving-way sensation in the ankle joint.

++++karma for the chart and i think its a 1 cuz i can still walk but i have a limp and i can not run or jog

i had a 3 and i was off my feet for a week and walked with a limp for several more weeks. good thing it happened a couple months before ski season:]

ya i had a #3 a week before winter break started
and i was up skiing in 2.5 weeks
but it probably wasnt the smartest thing to do
its been about 3 months now and it still hurts a little when i land something wrong
and hiking is really hard right after because your ankle is so weak.
ice and elevation is the best thing for it right after a sprain

you should be back up on the mountain in 2 weeks no problem

Dont waist money by going to get it checked out. All a dr. will do is tell you what you know. It hurts and stay off it for a while till it stops hurting. YOur the best at judging what you can and cant do, depending on your pain tolerance.

just get a stiff boot its just like an aircast. i know a girl who has been skiing on a broken ankle all season.

you will know when you can get back on it, and you alone, since your the only one who can feel whats going down. take it easy the first time your back up though, i had a sprained ankle, was back up 2 or 3 weeks after or something and i reinjured it cuz i worked it too hard up there.
