I am going out west this spring break for the first time, and i was wondering what the chances are of there being powder? Does it snow very much in the first week of April? If it matters, i am going to Key, Breck and Vail.
its unlikely, but possible. you'll probably get some great spring skiing tho. Its not powder but its really warm and sunny and slushy as hell which is always fun.
Last year there were two really bad snow storms when i was out there for Spring Break, they got 7 inches in 3 hours. We couldnt even drive let alone see your glove when you stuck out your arm. It was fucking nasty, but the next morning was so fucking nice lol.
Idk about this year. So far this march hasn't been the most epic. The snow is falling, but they're small dumps followed by warm weather so the snow doesn't really hold well. There's still time, I have faith in a big dump
So some of you already had your spring break, mine is next week and i think im not alone in this. March is normally the snowiest month here but we haven't got shit. Maybe a collective pray for CO getting dumped on in the next few weeks and a snow dance will help or chances, have faith!!
I just checked Accuweather's 15 day forecast and it looks like spring skiing weather for the next 2 weeks (the site is really unreliable tho). Is it possible for it to snow at higher elevations and not at lower ones? I dont know much more about mountains over 1000' vertical and 3000' in altitude.
This year has been funky. I could have been cruising on my Electraglide all but about 5 days this winter. That's not normal. Last year the ski areas closed in April with way more snow on them than they had in February. That's not normal either, but we usually get some big dumps in late March and early April. Colorado is made up of a bunch of microclimates. Best suggestion is to be prepared to be mobile and go where it's snowing. Eagle and Summit counties may not get anything, but the Boat may be getting dumped on. It seems like most of the big dumps this year have gone south so keep an eye on the Butte and Telluride. I'm sure it'll be fun no matter where you go. Shred
Yesterday at Vail was so dope. knee-deep pow in the bowls and East Vail; one of the best days of the season for me. Gonna be at the Beav on Friday as well; should be sick!!!
looks like were switching positions cause ill prolly hit vail friday. youll prolly be getting better conditions than i did. should be a good late week/weekend!
i was up vail all day yesterday and today, 8:30-4:30ish, so sick. my days off have been timing perfectly all season. Anyways, it has been puking all night, so tomorrow and friday and the whole damn weekend should all be really sick. hit me up if any of you wanna rip the gnar!
So i woke up at 5 am, couldn't sleep, cb wasn't posting how much snow they had while vail was off reporting another 12 inches!! Cb just posted they got 8 and i couldn't be more stoked!!! I won't be leaving for the mountain for another hour and a half but i can't fucking sleep everyone enjoy the snow we're damn lucky to have it!
Seems like everyone is going to be in Blue Sky tomorrow...so should we establish a meeting place? One good NS powder run at 1:30 ish somewhere sounds like a rad idea.
