its not easy to explain, but you have to be stupid not to see it. the big triangle is 1 space taller, so if the non triangle peices were the way they were, it would be to high, so they moved it and not it fits. it also keeps keeps the length in tact because although the non triangle peices moved out, it connect with a smaller triangle

no you guys are wrong..

its because they aren't triangles, theyre quadrilaterals. The hypotenuse of the top triangle actually bends inwards, and the hypotenuse of the lower triangle actually bends outwards.

It's because the bigger and littler triangles have different slopes, although its really hard to see with the naked eye. You could probably use a ruler to see the subtle differences

its because the 2 small triangles have different slopes so the top piece is a concave quadrilateral and the bottom is a convex quadrilateral

haha a bunch of cocky kids just got owned.

"Well its hard to explain, the triangles moved" nope owned, the assumption is that the triangles are triangles, which with the curved hypotenuses they aren', so its really just a retarded photo.  I admit i didn't get how it worked until i read this post.
