TM flex...odd??

Ok ive noticed today that my 182 tm's feel slightly noticably stiffer then my dads 175's. Is it just me or is there a design difference here? Could it be because the 182's were a late addition and designed for larose they were made with the tweeked specs of the pro models comming out?

how old are yours and how old are your dads? they lose alot of flex and break in only after a short time of use.

my dads are 2 days old. mine are 1. so theyre both basically identical. plus i flexed them without being mounted. 182's feel slightly stiffer. just found it a little weird, yet good

longer skis are generally stiffer. i thought this was a well known fact. skis are generally designed around the middle sizes, which is why i try to avoid buying skis on either extreme.

^ but i like a stiffer ski.. i thought longger and shorter skis were designed slightly differently. longer being stiffer.. but because of the extra length it would even out a be proportional. obviously you cant have a longer ski the same flex as a short ski because it would feel much softer because of the distribution. i thought they were designed to be proportional? anyone here have any inside infor on dynastar?

you are right. sorry, should have clarified. the longer sets of skis are often disproportionetly stiffer. natrally, a longer ski needs to be stiffer, but alot of times they are not made to be proportionetly stiffer. the current 1080s are an example of this. the 181s have a crazy flex pattern/stiffness compared to the 161 and 171s.

yeah I can see how it would be hard to make the flex just enough stiffer to make it proportional, so they probably do turn out slightly stiffer in the end. I guess thats just whats happening with them. either way its a good thing
