Braking ipod under warranty?

Alright, i searched around a lot and couldn't find anything.

So i have had my ipod for almost a year. It's fairly scratched, but it doesnt look like i abuse it. It works and all, but i feel that i should take advantage of the warranty if i can.

So has anyone broken their ipod (on purpose or not) and gotten it warrantied? what did you do? what did they say about it?

i have a friend wh cracked his iphone screen and then dropped it in a river and they gave him a new one no questions asked

and as for getting a new ipod if mine isnt broken, please don't tell me im a dick or what ever, Apple has more than enough money and can afford to give me a new one, plus they will refurbish it. i dont need a morality lesson, just some answers.

put in in the freezer and let it get cold it will break and u wont have to worry about water damage u could say u left it in ur car over night....

All they will do is send you the same iPod.  What is the point of that?

its new, or looks it. if i try to sell it and it isnt scratched up, then it will be good. also, mine is so slow and i heard someone that broke theirs got a new one and the new one was very fast

i dropped my ipod and it got a dent over the hard drive and stopped working today... i took it to the apple store and they told me the warranty only covers things that arent under your control...

so putting it in a freezer or "leaving it in your car overnight" shouldnt be covered by the warranty.

Oh, sorry, I didn't think of that.  My iPod touch needs to be warrantied it's very glitchy.  Good luck then.

yeah... its a little known fact. Shame they haven't upgraded to disk brakes; those pad brakes aren't doing so well.

They should talk to Shimano

well i have a good idea of what to do. Either wave a magnet around it, or wrap it in a towel and smack it on my desk while its syncing with my computer, it will screw up the hard drive. i just wanna see what other people say though, i would hate to break it and end up not getting a new one..

but i found out some new ways. i can go into the hidden folders and just delete and change random shit

went through the wash then put in a bag of rice to absorb the water.
If you push in the play/center button hard you can potentially break them and you won't be able to click things.

did you get it right from apple, i got one at best buy and paid like another 10 dollars so if ANYTHING goes wrong it get replaced no questions (or so they say) which i love cause bmx isnt easy on ipods when you slam

one of my friends hooked his up to a car battery, pluged the wires into the part where you put the charger and the whole thing started smoking. Didn't work anymore after that, and he got a brand new one.

if there is apperent physical damage, they wont replace it under warranty

thats why you gotta like break the hard drive without damaging the outside

I found out that they only really give you a referbished ipod , i think... which would mean there really is no reason to break it unless i know im getting a new one
