Higher DIN For Buttering/Presses?

My normal DIN right now is 8 and it seems to work fine for me (landing maybe 10 footers (my mountain sucks for jumps) and good for boxes/little carving)... Do I want a higher DIN for doing presses and butters? I imagine that doing those puts a ton of stress on the bindings.

i wouldnt fuck around with your din unless you know what your doing. im an 8 and i have no problems with ejecting during presses. so chances are its gonna work fine unless you got really fat since you mounted your skis

it all depends on your weight and height man... if your not too tall and not to heavy then an 8 is probably fine for everything, including butters and presses. but if you decide you do want to make it higher, don't fuck with it, take it to a store/someone who knows what they're doing

I'm 5'8" 130 lbs and I ride with an 8 or 9 DIN on both front and back, but I haven't looked in a while so I'm not sure which one it is. I've popped out only when it was necessary to, so it works well.

I ride anthems and my DIN is at 6. one of my bindings pop if i pull phat nose butters, btu other than that they ride fine.
i was thinking of cranking it up to 8.

heres what you do. try a nose butter. if your binding releases turn up the din. if you dont release then youre fine.

Binding manufacturers didn't consider 'buttering' a part of normal skiing activity when they designed the equipment and released DIN charts.
If you crank up the springs for butters, then you are likely going to be overkill for everything else.

my dins are set to 10 but I'm 6'4'' and 180 lbs... this works well for me but 8 sounds good for your height/weight

Everyone recommending a DIN setting based on height and weight is retarded.
Size of the boot and ability both play a massive part.

no, height and weight play just as big a part in determining DIN as boot size and ability. Greater weight = Greater force, meaning that if someone weighs 200+ pounds, they're gonna need a higher DIN cause if they're set low they'll pop out after hitting the smallest of features.

obviously..people think that height and weight are more important though. Furthermore recommending shit based on only 2 variables is just a display of a lack of knowledge
A significant difference in BSL could vary the setting by up to 2.
A difference in ability from type 1 to type 3 could vary the setting by another 2 points.
Therefore someone who is 5'10, 160lb with a 331bsl and who is a type 1 skier could be set for instance at 4.5.
Someone ELSE who is also 5'10 and 160lb, but who is a type 3 skier and a smaller foot, say 310mm would be set at 8.
Bottom line is, that unless people want to make recommendations which could easily result in injury due to a binding not releasing when it should (even if that person is the same height and weight), information on BSL and ability should always be used in conjunction with height and weight info, and the appropriate din chart.

yeah that makes sense. i agree 100%. its all four things that matter. like i said in my first post though, he shouldn't fuck around with it, he should take it to someone who was trained and actually knows how to increase/decrease DIN
