We need to change comp judging

This has been said several times before, but again, the Dew Tour final was scored erratically. Not as bad as Aspen was, but it was still a little crazy, PK did back to back 12s, he ended up in 6th WTF? Tom for sure deserved the win with back to back left and right tens but the point is, there needs to be a set was to judge events.
People say that making a formula for scoring comps will do to park skiing what it did to bump skiing, make it unfamiliar to the general public. I don't really think that is that big of a deal, and I think a universal scoring template is needed for comps. Just make it with a set score for a trick, then add points for style, subtract points for shakiness and stuff, then make another category for total impression of run(essentially the score they are giving out now.)

I get where you are coming from but I don't necessarily agree, I think that skiing is such an individual sport that setting scoring standards would mute many riders creativity. As for PK's run I don't think that it was that unfairly judged, yes he had back to back 12's but overall the run wasn't that impressive in my opinion.
It would be nice if somehow there was more consistent judging (I agree it has been pretty bad this year), but I don't feel that a set score per trick is the answer.
But that's just my two cents...

i find that alot of riders who ride comps do such technical stuff that they lose all creativity and end up without any personal style like t hall or shaun white (not that they arn amazing)

idk because i respect thall alot bringing the shifties to the pipe def adding some new elements to his game. Btw Did he compete in dew tour slopestyle this stop and does anyone feel like he kind of stepped down from all slopestyle opportunities this year. No hate, i just wanted to see him compete. haven't seen it for a long time

I dont think the judging has been that bad this year except for maybe aspen. The top three at the dew tour earned their spots and you could argue that any one of those three should be first. The reason the judging seems bad this year is that the competition level is so high. Everyone can do banger tricks and there is never a clear cut winner. I think people need to cut the judges a little slack

did anyone else think that T Hall's shifties made him look choppy/bad in the air? at first i thought he was freaking out in the air.... i know its more difficult but nice smooth rotation is tops in my book.... just me, could be wrong...

I agree, and to elaborate opn this, this has been a sort of a break out year in the ski world with all the new comps and exposure, and extreme level of comepetition, the judges are overwhelmed and are doing the best they can

what if someone does something crazily insanely innovative that isnt on the list?? the judges would be fucked and not know what to rate

i think the judging has made skiers into sort of one-trick ponies, you pretty much watch to see them do one, maybe two (dorey's double flips) sick tricks, and the rest is all filler, just tryin to stay up. i think there should be more emphasis on the whole package. that would also reduce the effect of spin to win, since you wouldnt try hucking every hit, you wanna keep it together to the bottom, and to distinguish yourself, you would almost have to add that personal flavor. i guess it could go either way, robotic generic runs, or mad stylie personal elements. judging is a mad fine line to walk tho. no one wants to see it go the way of bump skiing or god forbid aerials or something.
