I have a couple pairs of FKS' that i got from my uncle who runs a race program and theyre in decent shape but the majority of the screws are stripped so its almost impossible to get them out of the old skis much less use them to mount on new skis. Is there anywhere I can find new ones? Special order? Some sort of store?
that could work for the toe but the heel ones are weird if i use screws that are the same size but shorter (by like 1/8 inch) will that be too easy to pull out in the heel?
if the bindings were coming off race skis, more likely than not, the screws will be the proper length for mounting the bindings with the ~1/8" risers made for fks bindings.
since im assuming that you dont have/dont want to use the risers, those screws that you have would be 1/8" too long because of the lack of riser, and therefore, 1/8' too long for the ski. use those screws and youll likely deal with dimpling in the base. ya dont want that.
i would bring them to a shop with experience mounting that binding. it was made for a reeeeally long time, so they usually will have a whole mess of leftover screws for them. or, if not, you could grind the screws down, just be sure not to overdo it.
ill definetely look into this, i wanted to use them as a bit of a teaching tool for mounting on old skis before I strap these monsters on my good skis so ill probably go to a shop once ive had my fun and let the experts work their magic
