Video Editing question

My video editing program is probably inferior to most of yours, but I have a question about sound. When I try to add an mp3 song to the clips, all I get is a somewhat a song, with lots of screeching. I thought I might have to get ride of the video tape sound, and then add the mp3 song, but I really have no idea. Can anyone help?

Pinnacle Studio SE 8.. I think..
it came with my Panasonic miniDV recorder, and I captured the video in MPEG4...should I have captured it in DV?

i used to use pinnacle, i had some problems with stuff like that that was pretty much unexplainable, so i dont know what to say.

hmm maybe the mp3 is one of the messed up ones with all the screeching? Try a different song I guess.

Im just thinkin up stuff, but on your camera did u use sp or lp for a speed. If u used lp, it might make stuff go crazy.i dont know.

it does sound like u just have a messed up mp3, but i use final cut pro, and it even sux with mp3's, definitly convert it to a WAV, it will take less rendering time, AND sound cleaner, AND maybe fix ur problem

hahahhaha.. i use Premiere 6.5 and it works great with mp3s.. I'd try to see what happens if you convert it to wave.

mp3's dont work well with many editing programs, AIFF would be the best.
