Final Cut Express... please help

Hey guys,
so I bought final cut express and am so fucking lost. The manual is like 20000000 pages and isn't helping shit. Can someone make a basic guide of how to use with like the keyboard shortcuts on just simple shit.
Like how to cut clips
how to add clips into an edit
music
basic effects
any tips you can think of pleaseeeee. I have a headache from trying to get through the user manual

Alright I dont have final cut express but i have normal final cut pro. I have never used FCE but I am assuming its almost the same.

So for cutting you click B, which is blade and then to get back to the pointer click A

To put clips in the timeline you want to where they are in the window and drag them into the time line.

Music...file import select song, drag into audio time line like the video

See if you can find some basic tutorials online they may help

just play around with it is the best way... not a 2000 page manual.. or an other good tool beleive it or not is youtube, you can find decent video tutorials about specific stuff on lots of programs

just start using it and screwing around in it, there's no need for someone to make the biggest pain in the ass manual. it might seem confusing but just get into it and youll realize its not bad

also there's probably a dvd that came with the packaging. watch that as well.

is there any way to make the rendering in fcp a little bit quicker? my mac is pretty quick and has a lot of space on it so i don't think its becuase my computer is slow

The only way to make rendering faster is to make it render in less quality, which isn't worth it. Rendering does take a while for certain things, ya just gotta deal with it.

yeah the render time will depend on what you have added/changed in your edit, like if its something that seems pretty simple and its still going really slow try closing some other programs, or check your activity monitor by going to your macintosh hd>applications>utilities>activity monitor, and see if theres anything thats making your shit run slower, also you can try repair/verify your disk/disk permissions by going macintosh hd>applications>utilities>disk utility, then click your macintosh hd in the disk utility window, then verify disk permissions, then repair disk permissions. that should give you alittle extra speed, and if its still going slow as hell for simple tasks in fcp then ive got nothing.

Use keys "i" and "o" to set ins an outs to make clips.
