Losing faith in BmBw management/parks

So today I check bmbw website to see that the park at bwine is closed becuase the say they're having a rebuild....bummed that i can't ride but stoked at the same time that theres going to be a new setup i go off and do my own thing....well i talk to a friend tonight who said the park was perfectly groomed and untouched from when i left yesterday (monday evening)...yet closed....there wasn't one person in the park from 3 30-close working on that park.....what the hell is with that? what's the point of having it closed if its freshly groomed and untouched but they don't do shit??.... I don't know what i"m trying to get at but i'm just frustrated with this bull shit....and they've run out of excuses for this....ski school is done and they can't say well oh its becuase of the meltdown becuase i know every resort in ohio experienced that weather and they have stayed open while maintaining a decent park

i agree with this. especially since once the school programs are done who do they make there money from? us. but they don't care about the pass holders, all they care about is the schools that roll through. its a bunch of bull. idk what was wrong with the rail set they had before the reset (which took a week.) the jumps i understand tho, and now they are using the warm weather as an excuse. last year the park was the best it has ever been and there was a melt-down then too.
i think that the new gm's (one who was a ski school advisor and the other who has no expierence in running a resort) are running the resort into the ground and there is nothing we can do about it. but whatever cuz i'll be outta this place next year.

oh and did anyone else see the 4front skis up for grabs this weekend.

I was there tuesday. I talked to the guy with the beard who looks pissed off all the time, not sure what his name is or what his title is, i think he's some sort of manager. He claimed they were "letting everything set so it won't get bombed out" or something like that. It seems like the new management cares more about money than anything else.

They just don't get it...

Skiing at the Mills is boring at best.  That being said they have invested thousands of dollars in a terrain park to make the place cooler and more fun.  Why they build it and leave it closed is completely beyond me.  It is a complete waste of money and insulting to both ski schoolers and passholders.  The only costs associated with opening that run are Ski Patrol signing off on it being safe- read no costs as they are all volunteers.

This has been a common theme since I started skiing- excuses for everything.  This season they just happen to be much worse.

No one enjoys showing up at Boston Mills or Brandywine to go down slopes groomed flat.  Ski club kids sure don't and in tight times do you think their parents will be paying for their kids to go hangout in a cafeteria once a week?

this is bullshit... I remember thinking with all the events that were held last year that the park was gonna really step up this year... Hopefully when I get to come up this weekend the park will at least be open.

Well for those that can drive - Mad River has a sick park! The previous weather cycle that just passed did not have much of an affect on the park. Definitely try to make it out before the season is over.

How is mad river's park compared to perfect north's? I usually head out to perfect but I'm debating heading up there for a weekend.

and the site said a full park is goin up at mills, which was fun last year with the rainbow and double barrel

I have been skiing here for ever and ever since this peak resort shit came in this place is going straight to the ground i was there tues when it was perfectly groomed and not open for some strange reason and they never get around to doing anything.  The whole entire park crew would love to set anyhting up in any amount of time but this new management stinks!!  It always says on their website that the park well be open tom but i never trust them anymore! you look the next day and it'll just say tom.  one time they did that for a straight week no lie. They make up some lie to cover up the fact that they can't run a resort.  Every aspect of boston mills brandywine is going down the drain from the employees who worked 4+ years only to get two day of work a week and people who show up to training and orientation who did not get a job. to all their hours being cut. they close when there's the slightest chance of warm weather.  So everytime its warm and i wanna ski wine is of course closed.  They are not losing that much money.  They make more than any other resort that peak owns.  The manager cares only about his salary getting fatter cause of all budget cuts he made. just wait till three years from now and no one will ski here.  It is already dwilndling.  hpefully there is something that will happen and can stop all this cause i'm getting real sick of it!!

They completly rely on those ski schools. nothing else really matters to them.  But as you can see after they leave its is dead on week day nights. lets write some comments and lots of them. maybe they'll listen.  seeing as how they run their resort prolly wont do a thing.

i didnt read everybodys post but ive lost alot of faith in them, being new ive already become bored with the mediocre selection of rails they have put up, i check the rail parking lot and they have a hell lot of nice rails and shit that should be set in, they have battle ships to shotguns, and the jumps need to be groomed daily, i soldumly believe in a park pass where you are required to watch a video then answer 5 question about park ediquete, because recently i have been cut off buy older men and their small ass kids as they hit the knuckles then the cuss me out cause i almost landed on junior even tho i was going into the jump fuckn switch and not gonna stop if they cut in after the 2nd jump to ride the damn knuckle. im very disappointed in alot of stuff they do with the rails and wish that they would set up more and not suck so much cock at setting them the dance floors are never set well and theres nothing of fuckn variety, not a single rail in the park is like "come to bmills cause they have a 40 ft gas storage tank set at a 15 degree slant up"

also they recently posted that they will be turning peters pride into a fuckn park, that shit sucks and they need to fix it, let some other people choose what to put in other then the lazy ass people who run the cat and decide that a 8 ft extreme down box is the best thing to put in the small mills park

fuck it, i need variety, so im gonna have to make a bomb as summer session like the traveling circus 2 episode one, ns welcome, but we need a hill still to set it up or message me if you know somewhere secluded in the woods where we could leave 6 or so pvc rails

Did i mention that Mad River has the sickest park Ohio has seen in a very long time, possibly ever.

You can hit more rails in a single run at MRM then you can in 2-3 runs at bmbw. Jumps, MRM has 7 jumps, 3 of which are actually a lot of fun and 1 that is a legit 35ish with nice pop.

so the past 2 days have been for a rebuild? but they didn't change shit...soo gay and the only reason the park was closed on that sunny 40 degree tuesday was because the manager had already said the park was closed on the website like really early in teh morning...something that could have easily been changed...

That really sucks to hear. I always wanted to take a trip up there cause i thought it was sick.
But I guess its like most parks in the midwest, a letdown.

You guys could always come down to Perfect North. Just check the thread in ski gabber. Most people are saying its a top three midwest park. Plus we just reset some stuff and i think its in the works to add some more stuff next week sometime.

I dont understand why for those two day they couldn't change one thing.  This Park is in serious need of a rebuild and i bet the park crew would love to change it up!  Ima go change it myself.

tuesday because they're super lazy...oh and the lady in the info office thought it was 60 degreez on tuesday?? wtf?? it was like 38 39....and wednesday it rained all day ....i dunno i'm soo fed up with the place

Everyone at brandywine so lazy. i dont get what the point of having a park crew when they don't do anything. There is probably about 30 volunteer park crew and there are about two of them actually do something. If i was one of them i would deffinetly take full advantage of the job. if i saw a take off rutted out i would take the time to fix it not just keep riding.
Some one needs to learn how to build a real jump not a big mound of snow with a flat mound at the top. i bet i could build a better jump with a shovel then all the parkcrew. the need to make a big two jump line. the jumps need lots of pop so you can do something more then a 180.

I really just hope they learn how to do something right.

sooooooo true...contrary to popular belief pcrew does not have all the say in when rebuilds happen, by no means is this an excuse but pulling rails outta of ice blocks is just a losing battle...i understand all the frustration but bear with us...i was told peters pride is getting built next week with jumps (hopefully with some pop) and rails

no one took the pop out, they melted with the 60 degree weather and then turned to ice..trust me no one is happy with flat lips...i feel your pain, Ive been urging for a rebuild

ok so straight up if you want to ride good park either go to mad river or perfect north... pns has been legit since sliced bread and mad river is the new best park in ohio... so either way your gonna be having a damn good time!!

yo...we understand the 2 parks are good...i mean something is mentioned in every thread about them being good weather its relevant or not....terman already said something earlier in teh post so why repeat it? and it's not like everyones made of money...skiing is an expensive sport and we don't just ahve the money to roll to mrm or pns every weeeknd to ski

Seriously whne i was there like last thursday, there was at least 10 park crew people in there with their jackets.  No one was doing shit.  the only thing that got done was some kid raked the takeoffs of the jumps which no one was hitting.  it was so pointless.. why dont they do something that will actually have an effect, like fixing a landing.  Bwine is by far the worst area when it comes to rutted out landings and takeoffs to the rails.  There is a lot of rebuild talk, but do they even do it, they have only rebuilt once this whole year, and it was pathetic.  But at least their half way tryin unlike alpine.

There were only two people working Thurs including myself, the others wearing a jacket were just riding having fun and as far as fixing landings we try to shave down harsh bomb hole edges but its nearly impossible because 1) no one can fix ice with out getting the cat out there and 2) we have the largest ski school in the Midwest/country so the volume of people going through the park is ridiculous...not much you can do about that and on Mon and Thurs park crew helps teach boot camp from 6-9...I understand the lack of rebuilds but as I said earlier its out of most peoples hands..park crew has little to do with when they happen.

I totaly take back what i said about b wine they jump line in so much fun. You can actually do some fun tricks.The park work on the jumps every hour as well.I was very impressed!!! I just hope it stays like this!!!!

yeah, i am in charge of the park at Paoli Peaks, a sister resort to BMBW, I show my boss what is going on through these posts...word possibly got to Jody(manager at BMBW) and they might be working a bit harder to keep the park descent. I definitely know how much of a struggle it is to keep the park staff working and not just riding...its a pain. I hope BMBW gets their stuff together, i know paoli used to be like that, but we definitely did some reform this year...I think every resort goes through a crappy park staff every once in a while.

yeah but goin from prolly one of the best parks around to not even being open some days isn't excusable. yes there job is to make money, but no one will want  to go out and spend the money if there isn't anything to do. and many of us are the ones that are out their late in the season cuz everyone loves sping park skiing. so bmbw definatly needs to step it up if they want people to keep comming out.

I don't think its so much of the crappy park staff as it is the management.  I mean you would have had to read the earlier part of the thread to know that the park crew were the one's that wanted it open!  And i think if we did have crappy park crew the park would still be open.  In my opinion  It was not the park crew that closed the park for no reason and then told the customers that it was going for a rebuild when they had no intentions of doing so

i hope that brandy and jodi see this thread just so they know how much of a bad job they're doing at running this resort. unless of course that the job they've intended is to run it to the ground.

today they decided that it would not be a good idea to open wine because of the weather. i don't think that any resort around is closed because of the weather today. now they're gonna close the park or somethin for a rebuild and by the time it's back up, it'll be summer.

i can't wait till next year, when i'm not employed or rely on these people to ski. i'll hopefully have a real resort to ride at that actually cares about the people that ride their and not just the school kids that come through.

what do you expect? it poured all fuckin day? and they lose money when nobody skis....and who wants to ride park any ways when its super windy pouring rain and 40 degrees out? not me....i will get pissed when the park is closed on a 40 degree sunny day...but today who cares

im pretty sure everywhere was closed today. i know alpine was for sure. our base has taken a big hit, highly doubt well be open longer than a week or so unless we start blowing more snow.

your a absolute mentally handicapped child, obviously its gonna be closed it was freezing cold but raining and the weather sucked and there maybe was 15 people riding just like today, saturday, almost 50 people riding at mills, besides you dont need faith man, the park should effect you, not gonna lie the full hill afterbang to jump off the side of some rail approaches is getting old try stuff for jesus christ, if your not gonna try stuff then shorten up the damn 9xl thermal tee, just saying man, your funny but hit the park for what we have not what we are missing, everybody knows it lacks interesting rails, but majority of that is due to the park designers, brandi and jodi actually want to go for the park aspect they just lack space and such
