Help? Colleges Near Skiing

So i live in maryland right now and im a junior in highschool and starting to look at colleges. If i dont get recruited for lacrosse to any good schools then i want to go anywhere with good academics, possibly engineering and good skiing. Ive been looking at bates, bowdoin, colby, UVM, CU school of mines, swathmore, lafayette. any suggestions would be helpful. I got about 2000 on SATs and i have a 3.6 gpa with 3 APs. thanks

20 minutes from Bridger bowl and 1hr from Big sky/Moonlight

where in MD do you live? keep your grades up, try and boost the SAT and GPA some, and look at the 3 maine schools. They and middlebury are by far the best colleges near skiing. Bozeman and uvm and all are good for skiing, but no where near the academics of any of the NESCAC schools. Im going to colby next year btw, pm me if you have any questions.

I also attend Montana State. There's a free bus to big sky and bridger is like 20 minutes as was said before. Definitely some good skiing around here.

i wouldn't say that uvm is nowhere near bates and colby. I think when you go to a school like uvm, the education you receive depends on how much effort you put in to it.


call me biased as a uvm student, but hey.



oh and you'll get in to bates definately. Take more AP's and i promise you will. i got waitlisted without submitting SAT's and a 3.5 with 8 APs.

yeah im from annapolis.
Im looking at the nescac: Bates, Bowdoin and colby cause i could play lacrosse there too so that would be a double bonus

thats what you need for the top tier schools. most kids applying for those sorts of schools have that, or better. i just went through that whole process, and it sucks, but thats how it is. especially at a competitive  high school where 2/3 of the senior class is on the honor role.
and about UVM, i didnt mean to lump it in with the other schools, and i do realize that it is a great school, provided you put in decent effort.

OP, yeah, im from the DC area, and used to play lacrosse untill i messed up my shoulder. stay with lax, it can help alot with admissions.

also watch out for a billion hour drive to the resort due to I 70 being backed up all the time, and a lack of a sick nonpark terrain. go to utah if you wanna be 30 min from the illest park and 45 from the illest mountain and the sickest vibe you could ever ask for

If you are on the east coast go to johnson state in vermont. Its 30 minutes from stowe, 40 minutes from jay peak, and 15 from smuggs, burke and bolton are about an hour away too. I go to johnson and its a sick set up for skiing, if you set all your classes up on just two days you can hit the mountain up all day five days a week.

People that go to UVM only love it, and there's a lot of skiing. It's a real good school academically and a good time. BUT if you are for cereal about skiing then I would definitely visit CU and see how you like it. If you want to go small school in the middle of nowhere bullshit then yeah those good schools in maine would be legit but idk that's not my style.

yo man check out colorado college, its like colby, bates academically but in colorado, and the skiing is a little better.... Everyone here skis and we get breaks every 3.5 weeks for 4 days.

you basically are the same person as me. I play lacrosse, SAT score and clases. I have been looking at boulder and some other colleges in colorado. i have family that went there so i sort of know what it is like.

I would visit some schools there if thats where you are thinking of going. Im going over there to ski and visit colleges soon.

you could to go UCLA, UCI, etc and ski every day.

Mt Whitney, big bear, mt high (shittiest place ever).

UC berkeley, and northern schools can hit up Tahoe... I think its only like an hour and fifteen away.

academics are a high priority of mine, thats why im looking at NESCAC mini ivys and some others. As for skiing, I am used to skiing east coast but i love skiing powder out west. Up for terrain park too
