i believe that we will never know how the universe was created, or how the thing before that was created, etc. time is infinite. it always has been and always will be. something was there before the big bang, and something before that, etc.

Yeah and with christians our proof is in the bible, dude your not gonna change my mind, you have ur beliefs and thats fine im open to listening to them but dont tell im wrong cause i believe something that you don't think is real, thats your choice, and i no way think im better than you cause im a christian, god doesnt put people on pedastals, im no less a sinner than you and nogreater a person, in the eyes of god all sin is equal, and every man is equal wether you choose to believe that or not your choice, if you took a chance to read the bible or look around and realize miracles around you im pretty sure you'd see the signs, I Believe that god blessed all of us on newschoolers with the ability to ski even you, like i've stated already Believe it or not your choice!

i wouldnt say best explained. the "order" we experience is thanks to random chance giving us a planet that sustains life, and evolution. animals, plants, etc that couldnt hack it died off, or were killed in catastrophic events (see the dinosaurs). we could just as well have been a frozen planet with no atmosphere. or a burning hot one with poisonous acidic gasses and no water. we got lucky. its bound to happen in the billions upon billions of solar systems, and an infinite amount of time

If a one in a 'billions upon billions' chance exists for us, wouldn't that same chance also exist for a god? Making it more of a certainty that one is out there?

the kid didnt make a thread "im a christian and if you're not your going to hell so lets get on the internet and bitch about it" thread.

he created a thread and a cult for people who share a similar faith in a higher power (if you believe in one) he didnt come in here with "fighten" words, for gods sake just read the opening post. "peace" not "die a fiery death infidel" as a closer.

lets play a little what if,

what if this was "skier's for allah" cult,

what if this was, "skier's for rastafarism" cult,

what if this was "budist skiers of the world" cult.

i want NS to tell me you wouldnt be all careing and supportive or at the very least not hateful, on one of these cults.

first of all thats the billions upon billions that we KNOW exist. there is the potential for an infinite amount more. second, we know stars exist. we know star systems exist. therefore we can calculate the chance there, to a degree. there is no number of chance that there is a god. thats a terrible way of explaining it haha but i dont know how else to say it. i will admit, there is a miniscule chance that there is a higher being, or creator, that created our universe. basically that set off the big bang. the chance is very slim. even slimmer is the chance that there is the type of all knowing, all seeing god that you describe.

not to mention. if there is some sort of god, or creator, or puppet master, or someone bigger than us that created us or controls us or whatever, something had to create him/her/it. and what came before that? how were they created? its an endless loop

this is one thing that bugs me most about christianity. jesus was a guy, what does it mean to accept him? its historically proven he existed, big deal. he just said crazy stuff, and people believed him because he had charisma. sound like anybody in recent history with a mustache? presentation has a lot to do with people taking you seriously. if somebody today made the same claims, i'll bet nobody would believe him.

thats a horrible comparison regardless of whether jesus was really god or not or wtv you believe you can't compare Hitler and Jesus one was preaching a message of love and acceptance and a nother said kill everyone who doesnt look or act a certain way. I agree someone today wouldn't be taken seriously but i you believe in the story of Jesus through miracles people believed in him, i mean if someone could just make blind people see and sick people better i would listen to them too

i havnt posted much in this argument but i figured i will tell you why i belive what i do

so many people have said that jesus was a great guy who saod some nice thing but was just a man.

but the dude reserected himself from the dead, multiple sources have written about that fact if it was any other fact and we had the amount of historical documents talking about it it would be considered a truth.
at one point he showed himself to 300 gatherers not all christians and sat and ate with them,
now some people are going to claim that im delusinal that this is some massive hoax that was not written about until hundreds of years later, the ealiest account of jesus is from a jewish book from the mid to late 1st centry, jesus died in approx 36 AD so it was only a matter of years after this that it was recorded.

it was recorded by jews, romans, the greeks, and the gentiles so it was not just some dudes that rocked around and created this story for thier own fame,

the other thing to consider why would people make it up? every single aposlte was eventually killed because of what they belived, they wernt rich and they didnt have fame they were hated most of the place the went,  jesus warned them of this so why would they do it unless it was the truth.

jesus was the son of god, the son of man and the salvation that was promised.
people have been chucking round quotes from the old testement and what we have to realise is that god sent Jesus to die for our sins he was gods sacrificial Lamb and was called the Lamb of god, he was the to be killed so that there was no more need for floods and brimstone and what not that was talked about in the old testement, so from now until jesus comes back we are forgiven of all our sin if we want it to be if we truely repent we are saved.

anyway thats the cliff notes of why i belive in god, the reasons i came to him and gave my life to him was something else but thats why i belive in him.

jesus said: For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits himself? (luke 9:25)

and thats the point we can have everything in the world we could ever dream of and still be unhappy and wanting more and jesus is the only one who can give you what you need.

i encourage everyone to read the bible with a open mind, after that then make your opinion but if you base your idea on religion on what you see and hear without finding out about the other side to form a balenced argument you are only kidding yourself, ounce you know both sides of the story then go and make your opinion.

Quite simple, really.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Spending eternity in Heaven is what it comes down to. The Lord has promised us eternal security if we believe in Him.

I try to live my life so I can claim to be a christian,which the definition for those of you who were arguing about what christianity is.... the word christian means (actual translation) "christ-like" or if you didn't get that flip it "like-christ".

With that said.... If anyone comes to this thread and can't see the humor in all of this nonsense then your taking yourself and life way to seriously....

Oh and has anyone that has posted more than once and is taking some sort of stance in this thread ever read the Bible from cover to cover (meaning the whole bible)?

Just wondering...

,because I've seen some horrible misinterpretations of texts in here... which made me laugh but is sad. Seriously you can take small parts of almost any book or for that matter speech (especially from some of our presidents... haha bush) and make it say or mean whatever you want.

k that's enough gasoline from my bucket on this fire.

Thats part of religion though is taking the bible and trnaslating it to what you believe, you believe that alot of us are wrong you dont know that ur right either, neither do i know that im totally right, and i have not read the bible from cover to cover, because thats not the point, the bible is used as a tool for our salvation or struggles we are going through, the bible gives awnsers, to what we need help with, if you read it cover to cover your not going to get the true meaning of the verses, you can sit and concentrate on digging deeper into one chapter in the bible for hours just contemplating the meaning of it, how it relates to life, and how it can solve your awnsers. Just REading the bible prolly wont solve your awnsers, you have to engage yourself into it and let it speak to you

Faith, by its very nature, begins and ends in the realm of the unseen. It is conviction supported by evidence concerning things we do not know by experience. By faith we accept that the invisible things of God are behind the visible universe. By faith we hope for a home in heaven, though we have never seen that paradise.

Does this mean faith is unreasonable? I believe Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492. This belief cannot be put into a test tube or measured by scientific methods. It is nonetheless true. Things one cannot now experience, like facts of history, are demonstrated by methods other than observation and experimentation. I cannot put God into a test tube or measure His chemical components, but I can produce a different kind of evidence that He is.

The evidence that supports the Christian's faith is divine in origin. Inasmuch as the God about Whom we read in the Bible is infinitely more trustworthy than man, we should expect this evidence to be of superior value to mere human testimony. I believe an honest, unprejudiced study of the evidence for God, His Son, and His Word confirms this.

And that's the beauty of it...we have all been given the choice. It's up to each of us as individuals to choose what we believe, which is exactly how God intended it to be. I will say, my purpose in life would seem pretty insignificant if I wasn't living for Jesus. What would be the point of surviving?

Oh no, there does need to be religious debates, it's just that an internet forum is not the best place for them. I'm a Christian and am all for spreading God's Word it is just that debating with people that you do not know anything about is taking the personalization out of the decipleship. I just think that to accurately help someone find God you need to know them first. I understand that you are just trying to show them the way of God, but it won't work cause they only know you as your screen name. They cannot see how you live for God, and to me seeing someone live right and for him is the only way to successfully deciple them, or show them that God's way is the right way. Sorry if I offended you with my earlier post.

I totally agree with you that we do need to build a relationship with the person, its key, and it still is good to discuss are beliefs(not argue). God is my rock, he moldes us into his disciples to spread his word, its not a bad thing to use this forum as to spread his word, anyway of the word being put out can be beneficial to someone, wether they choose take it in or just brush it off. and even though we christians and non-christians have differences theres no need for us to argue, we should accept what that person truely believes wether we like it or not, i do believe that spreading the word is necessary but sometimes we cant be the only ones to do it and let god take care of it. if ppl take time to notice there are signsof him all the time
