the fact they don't have wrap around edges are because if you get on a head on collision with a tree or something the edges wont get bent up and messed up and they are better for shock as well look at dynastars, they are the same. my moments have been through hell and back this season and are still riding strong moment knows whats up and dont mess they dont just put shit there for no reason.

It helps prevent delams.  I am doing the same thing in my skis, as do companies like Igneous.

The tips and tails have tons of stress put on them as the move up and down.  By not doing a full edge wrap, the ski tips are allowed to flex a slight bit more, helping them to absorb a ton of energy.

With a full wrap edge, the tip is not able to move as much, and instead the energy works to further break down the epoxy bonding in the tip and tail, causing more delams. 

There actually was a study done in the 80's they determined that 3/4 wrap was superior in preventing delams.  They rivet their tips now and it helps to prevent that exact issue.

Trying to find the study in my email but have no idea where it is.  Hopefully I can track it down soon.

The first run had full wrap and they decided to drop it.  Apparently it acts as a wedge on impact and prys the ski apart.
