Alaska in March

How is alaska in march? snow conditions, whats open, weather, etc. I may be headed out to Alyeska over my spring break with a friend, but since i have to buy a plane ticket, i wanna know what i'm getting myself into haha. thanks

its like 520 or so round trip from DC, so not bad at all. and im stayinig with a friends family, so thats an added bonus. im really really stoked haha

is your heart set on alyeska? cause eaglecrest [juneau ak..??] pretty much has its best skiing around spring break and plus just overall i like it wayy more than alyeska. more little places to discover and stuff at ec and alyeskas just kinda..a big bowl. i mean there are trees to mess around in and stuff i'm just saying for the most part...its pretty much a just a bowl.

just my opinion thoughh.

Alyeska is sick, especially when it snows. Don't expect park, but who would go to Ak for park? Some of the chutes are SICK too

Turnagain pass is best in Feb/March. Sunny skies and stable conditions! And it's only down the road from Alyeska.

haha yeaa steph way to rep juneau. you will be stoked on either alyeska or eaglecrest. alyeska has the resorty town support (though its nonexistent compared to down south) so its easier to plan a trip and find lodging yadda yadda. Plus as much as i love juneau, nothing beats wandering around in girdwood. Basically ak is amazing in the spring for skiing: bluebird skies, stable snow and lots of it. so come ski with us!

yeah, im going with a friend who is alaskan, so im just staying with his family and doing whatever he is, and i think they live in girdwood. and yes, shennanigans will be partook for sure^

Anywhere in the PNW in march is good and that is when the PNW get most of its snow. So be expecting lots of pow but be prepared for the occasional rainy day.

Nice. What'd you hit up?

My buddy and I didn't know the name of that peak, so we dubbed it "Gold Digga" cause it's right above the mines and also has that little shack that's nearly at the top that is falling apart.

So luck man, I only get to rally on the weekends due to my "adult" status of working a weekday 9-5.

You should hook up with Sloth, Garrett and the boys down there then, those kids are off the hook and will show you a good time I'm sure.

Oh, and I hope you like weed, cause I'm pretty sure the whole town smokes. Haha.

Sick. Yeah, toilet had mad people in it on Satuday, so it was gettin tracked up like a hooker dancin' with sweet lady H.

Looks like it got some fresh on it though!

I love when it's sunny up there, it makes me wish I had a Heli so i could ski all the lines I see.

yeah, my friend im staying with is friends with landis, his bro, and the others, so im sure ill run into them. and landis, toilet bowl looks prime in that pic. im really fucking amped now, havent skied any pow since i was in jackson over christmas

aly can be pretty sick or pretty rainy. on average it gets the most anual snowfall out of any resort in northa america. thats a bonus. 

anchorage boys. some time im gona have to hit up tarnagain and hatchers and stuff and some of you anchorage boys will have to show me around and stuff

are you staying in girdwood or in anchorage??

we got about a foot of new snow a couple days ago but now everything is tracked up. You might get lucky though because they might open maxs again which would be so sick after all this new snow.

are you coming next week? because US Alpine nationals are next week and the place is gonna be a zoo and some stuff is gonna be blocked off.

They were pretty sweet. my buddy dropped a big one, still need the footy from it, but it went pretty well. The bowl/face was full of some sick pow, I'd for sure climb all the way up there again.

im staying in girdwood. and yeah, im coming on saturday so ill be there for nationals. i think im working at the races for a day or so. i may do a day of skiing off the pass or something too, i dunno

yeah i think there were a bunch up for the nationals. slip crew was such a shit show sometimes, half the people had no idea what they were doing. i ended up just skiing pow most of the time though haha
