Shaun White's personal half-pipe in Silverton

Hopefully not a repost...but holy shit.

I guess Red Bull with some help from Oakley built Shaun White a half pipe at Silverton in SW, Colorado.

Haha a bit crazy cause it is Silverton after all.  But hopefully the resort got a lot of cash to help them through the economic shitstorm.

"This is Shaun White's just-completed halfpipe on the backside of Silverton Mountain, in the shadow of Storm Peak. This is just below the famed 'Grande' and the 'Hanging Valley' and 'Hidden Valley' runs, in an area shown on the map as 'The Lake'. The pipe was built by Red Bull (with some pipe dragon assistance provided by Oakley), just for Shaun's training purposes."

Before you hate, you should do your research! Shaun is baller as fuck... Red Bull built a special halfpipe that he could session to get his shit on point.....His shit's on point... Now it's time for other Red Bull athletes to sesh the pipe..... Keep an eye out for this Fall's new flicks.... Simon and T-Hall will def be sesh'in the pipe @ Silverton together. Say Sum'n!

Jealous much? Shaun is taking advantage of awesome opportunities provided to him. Any of you would do the same thing. As to the fact that it's in Silverton, I've seen it and it isn't affecting the area negatively. This will result in some cool video next year and by the way, I've met him a few times and he has always seemed cool to me.

Really? Not to say you are lying, but just looking at the photos it seems like it isn't in any landing zones, just at the bottom of the run-out and could easily be avoided. But thats just from the photos, haven't been there myself.

Doesn't even seem like the best place for the view. It looks like the pipe is completely in the shade and it looks like it's only mid-day. With all the mountains so tall, you'd have to be really far away for a decent view, and then the rider would be tiny. Or maybe I just can't judge the pics.

Either way, it seems kinda excessive. Ok, maybe really excessive. And it'll be even more of a waste of money to get rid of all the avy debris. But I guess Shaun needs this.
