Hood/timberline may?

disclaimer: i have been searching for about a half an hour for similar topics in the searchbar but i haven't found what im looking for. i am sorry that there are so many of these thread but please, all the help is appreciated.

i am taking classes this summer and i have a bit of time between the end of second semester and the beginning of the summer period.
i want to head up to the hood/timberline area and ride public parks. also looking to spend as little money as possible.
so any one with experience, tips, possible conditions, or anything else related please let me know

yea, i was planning on sleeping either out of my car or in a tent. im leading toward my car though. like i said, cheap as possible.

live in your car. use timberlines bathrooms. clip tickets everyday and poach parks.  it the way to go

in may you still get the lower park at t-line, which can be good or bad depending on melt out and laziness of the park crew. also i dont think it will be like last year, but may was still fairly cold, the airstrip was completely snowed in last year at the time i was there. oh, and if they do it again, they had a $99 spring pass last year, which was sweet.

camp and the spring pass is good until memorial day, my favorite time before it gets really busy and the whether gets shitty for a bit in june

just checked the timberline site and cant find anything about a spring or summer pass.
i did find a flex pass that may work for me depending on how long i decide to stay. any extra info on that spring pass or the 99$ pass someone mentioned earlier would be appreciated.

The $99 Spring pass is for Meadows I believe. Supposedly they have a dope ass spring park. T-Line summer pass is about $800 so its not worth it. Around hood in May T-Line's park will probably be below the lodge so you can ski down to it and hike. Ski Bowl has a small rope tow access park that is good too that is poachable. Plus there is snow everywhere so building BC jumps is as easy as driving up to T-Line and hiking out of the parking lot.

last year i just bought tickets for a week, that was in late july though, but 2 years ago i know they had the $99 dollar spring pass at t-line, i went in the last week of may. at that time they just moved the park up to their summertime lane.

i went out there last year for basically the same exact thing you are talking about.  early may after the school semester.  we camped inbetween government camp and hood river, for free.  ate soup and hot dogs for a food budget of $10 a day.  timberline spring pass for $99.  gas was by far the most expensive part.  probably the sickest, cheapest ski trip ever.  i slept under the stairs every night in a hammock and sleeping bag or on the beach of the hood river.  ummm it was really sick.  let me know if you have specific questions.

Timberline should have a spring pass for around $100, as mentioned before.  The winter park will probably still be up on Norman's, and it is really easy to ride down and hike that park if you can't afford the pass.  Last year, they moved the park up to the mile over memorial day weekend.

spring on hood is more like winter off the mountains in my experience. i've been in full blown white out blizzards in june.
but sleep in your car.

use t-lines bathrooms/showers

camp stove, ramenhow long will you be there? if your gonna ski like 15 days then just get a summer pass

i will hopefully end up going from the second week of may until the end of may or memorial day if the pass expires by that time. again, ive never even been to oregon so i dont know shit about the area.
someone commented on the mt hood meadows public park. does anyone have more info about that? or will T-line be better?
oh yea, and will anybody else be up around there around that approximate time?

$99 spring pass is timberline, and their parks right now are sick. the spring pass goes until early june, then they move the park up to the glacier.

definitely too cold in may for tents, same for even june last year, but im a pussy.  sleep in your car, spring pass it if youre staying there a while.  spring pass runs into early june, if you are daypassing it they have a deal in the spring where you can ask a gaper to be their friend for the day and get a pass for like 15 or 25 bucks.

if there is truly a 99$ spring pass then i will definitely get that and stay a while, but i cant find anything on the site about it. only thing i can find is flex passes for T-line and skibowl. is it possible that that information just isnt up right now and will be when the summer gets closer?

ok, so i know this pretty much changes everything but i just realized that my school doesn't offer the class i need to take this summer so i pretty much have the option of just about any community college i want to take this class.
so new questions:

are there any schools in the close proximity?
how difficult would it be to find work for the summer?
how expensive would a full summer pass be/where can i find that information?

this is all still at the hypothetical stage so good thing there is still a good amount of time left. thanks for all the info.
i will post in the regionals as well.

You may have to work a certain number of hours or days each week, but generally, yes, Timberline employees qualify for a free summer pass.

im going to do this same thing this may.

is it really too cold to camp in the last 2 weeks of may? i was thinkin i could camp super low on the mountain and drive up everyday so maybe i could be below the snow line??

also how is the snow this year? we are way behind in big sky.

this is the spring pass deal. it is really epic. it goes until the end of may, but the last three years they have extended it until like june 10 or something.

Housing in government camp is extremely hard to find, and pretty expensive. It does tend to be either extremely nice weather, or a random snow storm, even in may, so tent may be brutal, but staff at timberline are really chill about people sleeping in cars.
worth coming to t line, the parks just turn my mind to shit, in the best way possible yaddameen

Timberline Spring Pass is valid March 1 through May 31 and costs $109. That's the price of two day tickets, so... not a bad deal. :)

If you're a hardy type, camping is no problem. You can pretty much pick any road between Rhododendron and Government Camp, or check out Trillium Lake when the road opens (should be very early this year).
