I'd give Slumdog Millionaire a shot. One of my favorite movies I've seen in a long time. Miracle at St. Anna (the new spike lee film) was good until I realized I was watching it without subtitles and would need them.

download the Australian TV show "Summer Heights High" it is well worth the watch. Only like, 10 episodes and eacha re twenty mins long but soooooooooooooo funny.
