BcL and I were discussing this yesterday... It's all about your personal preference. I do not stagger my feet at all and have no problem getting them around, but he feels that it gives your more power/pop to get it around. Do whatever feels right.
Whenever I teach people front flips it goes like this...
When you are approaching the takeoff put your hands by your head making "bunny ears". When you get to the lip of the take off, pop off of your toes and in the same motion throw your hands from your head to your knees and keep them there until you touchdown or see your landing. Pop is key though, everytime i teach people frontflips they worry too much about setting the spin and don't think about getting the necessary air time. So be commit, pop, grab your knees, and wait to feel the landing underneath you.
Good luck and have fun. They're my favorite trick.
