What can you tell me about these two skis? Which would you choose? How stiff?

Live Life 1 = Ridiculously stiff
Live Live 2 = Medium stiff, but nicely poppy, and very playful (but nowhere near as soft as the Elizabeths), I have last years. This years have a 3 stage rocker that is the most gorgeous thing ever.

given the option i would go for the Life Life 2 with the rocker, and I live in Massachusetts.

It's awful stiff for jibbin though...

1's are more for big mountain charging and hucking, a little  less capable of landing switch in pow, but a better in bigger lines and shitty snow. 
2's are more freestyle oriented and what i ride everyday.  I ski a 179 in the park and a 189 in the pow, but you can ride either in all conditions.


Either way you cant really go wrong, it just depends on what kind of skiing you are really lookin to do. these skis are the jammmm. peace

im gonna sell my live life 2s if your interested, used maybe about 8 days.
ive never skiied live life 1's so i cant compare but ll2's are a medium stiff flex, super poppy, and really really good on jumps, they are as light as a pair of park skis, super stable, its definatly the best jump ski ive used in the park. and the low weight makes it easy to throw fast spins. message me if your interested in mine

I would have to describe them as more buttery than movie theater popcorn. Nose butters have never been easier on this ski, which is surprising, considering the LL2 are much stiffer than other rocker skis on the market. For me, this adds to the fun and allows you to charge the entire mountain, with or without deep snow, and enjoy the benefits of a rocker ski.

On the real, the Live Life 1 is capable of handling anything from crud, to baller pow lines, and even groomers. Although the tails are not rocker, switch landings are relatively easy. But, if you're looking to stomp 180's in deep snow, the Live Life 2 is your ski.

Along with an 8 degree, three-stage rocker, the 189 Live Life 2 is 140-112-132. Despite being such a large ski, the low swing weight of the LL2 allows you to pretzel, murder the tightest of trees, and absolutely stomp landings in the pow. I am blown away by the fast edge to edge control and how well the LL2 handles everything from groomers to park features. Skiing deep snow and stomping backcountry jumps opens a world of possibilities on the Live Life 2. If you have the opportunity to demo the LL1 or LL2 be sure to give them a try, I can guarantee you will be ecstatic after a few runs.

^well put, Josh.  I've been on my 189 LL2s for 40ish days so far and I absolutely LOVE THEM....  park, pow, everywhere; this ski is SO MUCH FUN

contrary to popular belief, the live life 1 is not ridiculously stiff. i've been skiing mine a lot this season. it is hands down the most fun ski i've ever used. it rips everything from hard packed moguls to DEEEP utah days. i would recommend it to anybody and everybody.

Personally, I don't think either are soft at all.

LL2s I stiffer than most skis I've owned in the past, but they aren't incredibly stiff. Its the perfect flex for everything. They can charge through any kind of snow, and are incredibly stable at high speeds, which is something I love. I can still butter them too, since they have the 8 degree rocker. I have them in 179 and I absolutely love it for all mountain. This is my favorite ski. Sometimes when I land front seat in powder, instead of nose diving and endo'ing onto my face, the tips just resurface and correct everything. I honestly think the 8 degree rocker mixed with the solid flex of these skis are better than any other type of powder design because of how responsive, versatile, and stable they are.

the LL1s are my big sticks. They're 189s and I use them for the big lines. I've tried butters on them and have failed miserably haha. But then again I only weigh 140 lbs. and I'm 5'8", so if you're any bigger than that, it should be easier. They are amazing for switch powder! A few times when I found myself trying to do a controlled fall on a switch landing, the ski just scoops me up and catches me like it ain't no thang.

I have both pairs mounted dead center and have had no problems at all. Tips never dive, and I have minimal swing weight that way.

oh and the LL2 has the 8-degree rocker on the tip and tail; flat underfoot.

the LL1 has the 8-degree rocker on the tip and tail also, but has traditional camber underfoot, making them carvable on groomers and the like.

^Actually, the LL1's have both tip AND tail rocker. I know because I have a pair in my room. Sorry Mattheuskier, but you seemed to be misinformed even though you have seen mine. Whatever though...

I actually have both skis in 189 and another pair of LL2s in 179, all three pairs straight up center. I am six foot 185lbs.  

The LL2s are fun, buttery and smooth in almost all conditions.

The LL1 is a charging ski if you ask me, it is stiff and does not have as playful or a feel as the LL2. They both pivot in the trees and slay the deeps like nothing else.

I find the LL2 at 189cm to be the best ski for landing fakie and stomping big spins and such. The 179cm LL2 is a fun ski to rip fresh snow groomers and the park, they ski small if you ask me.

I emailed surface skis and here was their response:

I have skied both on deep powder days (over 12" fresh) and both did
well but the LL2's required a bit less effort. The slight camber
under foot on the LL gives it the advantage on the groomers over the
LL2. So decide which you will be seing more of... are you the guy
that saves his legs and money until there's a powder day or do you ski
every condition regardless of whether or not it snowed. In reality
they are very similar but the slight advantage on groomers/ crud goes
to the LL because it has 3mm of camber under foot compared to the LL2
which is flat under foot. The additional rocker on LL2 gives it the
advantage in the pow (8 degrees of rocker on LL2 compared to 4 degrees
of rocker on LL1).

There used to be a bigger difference in flex but
not this year, the LL & LL2 are the same. "Stiff" is a relative term
and everyone's opinion is different. They are stiffer than an EP Pro
which was an intentional move so you don't wheelie out if you get in
the back seat. As to groomer skiing, I ski my LL2's almost every day
including the groomers. We have athletes who use the LL2's in the
park, so yes they are manageable on groomers due to being flat under
foot but have sidecut. The whole idea behind the ski was to make it
skiable and fun on the groomer as you ski back to the lift after a
sick pow run up top.

both skis are amazing if you like stiffer skis, sooooo stable, i could not believe, how well they turned and rode in general on groomers, i think the LL is more of a charging mountain goat and the LL2 as a free style fox. plus the dudes at surface are great with warranties and customer service. ive been fully converted to surface from line.
