my park is three jumps in a row in the middle and two rails and two boxes on either side. so it is impossible to fulfill the requirements in one run. so can i take more then one and have it count as one.

Ya, my hill has all of 140 vert and it is only possible to hit 3 features in a row

i'm pretty sure you can just put together any 6 videos, as long as 2 of them are jumps and 2 rails and you can have any other feature.

nah its supposed to be a slopestyle run with 6 features straight. no editing.


but i do feel bad for the kids that dont have 6 features in a row...fo real? i didnt know that existed

at the park i ski at, the first rail is 500 feet from the first jump, does fast forwading the clip count as editing?

so stoked to enter this, Im planning a run in my head as we speak... im going to go out there this week and practice it and hopefully have it down to film it soon! i know I have no chance but it could be good... only thing is were getting rained on pretty hard right now so its going to be icy 30 footers ( its the best we have)

I feel really bad for all the kids that don't have 6 features in a row....I hope some kind of adjustment to the rules can be made for you guys....

if they just videotape the hike/lift ride then you know they did it all in one try, so I could see that working, you would just need to show that you did it back to back, not like taking 20 runs on jumps and choosing the best, and 20 separate on rails and choosing the best.

I was thinking the same thing as Matt.

Here is my reply to the questions in the interview comment thread.
I didn't realize that there were soo many places that had parks with only a couple of hits. The idea behind the competition is to make it as close to a real competition as possible which is why I went with 6 features in a row without editing so that you have to be consistent and land all 6 tricks in a row just like a real slopestyle comp.What do you think would be fair? For those that only have 2 or 3 features in your park; what if you lapped your park 2 or 3 times depending on how many features it has and just keep the camera rolling in between runs so that we can see that you technically did all 6 tricks in a row? I will leave this up to newschoolers to debate and then I will make a final decision.

I say thats a good Idea.  But watching 5 minutes of lift ride would kinda suck.  Could you fastforward that part but still show its all in one run?

for the kids that dont have 6 in a row, keep recording throughout the chairlift/hike, send it in with no fast-forwarding, and the judges can watch it once to verify that its all in a row, and after that they can just skip it when actually judging the run.


i know this isnt completely true and anyone could win the competition, but if you're mountain doesnt have anything over a 30fter and less than 6 features in a row, do you really think you have a chance against all the other kids on ns that are competing for $1500? like i said, anyone can win, but the odds are very, very, very, very, very, slim.

very tru... me for example, but then again im only entering for fun and to push myself and usualy if you only have 30 footers you wouldnt realy have a chance against others on a 50 footer because you would be scared to hit it, which sort of applies well in this contest I think. I just look forward to seeeing what people will do to stand out

SCOTT!! my view of this competition is that your looking for the best slopestyle skier that can link a run together.. (who cares if they're from the East or West, or what kind of home mountin park they have.) If you can ski through your local park and slay EVERY feature then you should have a chance at getting a poduim spot in this comp! who cares if its 4, 5, 6, 7 features.. whoever throws it down the hardest "unedited" run should win!

Atleast one jump and one rail should be neccasarry, and multiple of both should be rewarded with extra points, but there needs to be a less strict format so that everyone is given a fair chance.

Ultimately its gonna be obvious who will make it through to finals regardless of home-mountain turf, and if you are one of the select few who make it, then maybe its worth the roadtrip to a better park for your "finals run".

A six feature course sounds legit, but if you throw it down and only hit 4 or 5 features then you should still have a chance!!

im assuming that the 6 feature was so that kids can show multipe tricks and the abillity to spin and slide rails both ways ect... and the abillity to have a lagit run without falling

some one could slay there park in one run and it may be 4 features or so but that doesnt show a lot as to how technical or how big there bag of tricks is so hiking/chair to get 6 features in because it shows what they can really do

i said its a disadvantage to the much smaller mountains, but can still be done...dont think that big mtns dont have their own creativity...places like pc and ms push the sport the most because of the athletes at each

so you didnt actually say why you think its unfair...

but i dont see why it is? if in a slopestyle run you dont want to hit a feature, you dont have too. a lot of the comps have more than one rail side-by-side so that you have a choice, so i think that during the video that you make, you should be able to choose any 6 features in your one run. in no way will it need to be compressed more, itl just be a little longer, and like i said before the judges can watch it one time to make sure its all one run, and from then on just fast forward and it wont make quality poorer at all? dont get why u were saying that. and you wont make the run look trashy because you'l be doing the 6 best tricks, instead of being forced to hit the first 6 features which might not be the best.

Maybe you could stage a competition for people with crappy parks. I think its impossible to hit more than a few features at my hill and there would probably be no jumps. They should have a video rail jam or something for kids who ski at really bad places.

or maybe...people with crappy parks could get off their ass and drive to a decent one.    If you really want to win this thing, then go out and put forth some effort.  even if that means spending a few days away from home.

hey guys,

Sorry I haven't got back to your questions. I haven't had internet for a week and now I am in Northstar for Dew Tour.

I have read all of your comments and talked with a variety of people and decided that we will allow a lap of the chair if your park is less than 6 features. The reason why I chose 6 features is because I want to make this a legit slopestyle comp and 6 features is pretty standard to showcase your skills, multiple tricks, spin both ways and rail skills. For those people who ski good parks and have 6 or more features like keystone, you will not be allowed to lap the chair. If you have more than 6 features in your park, you will be allowed to pick which 6 you hit. Meaning you are allowed to skip a feature in the middle of the run to hit one farther down.

If you have 3 features in your park, then you can lap the chair or hike once. You can fast forward the chair or hiking. We are trying to be as flexible as possible but I want to keep it to the core idea which is to be a slopestyle comp and not a video edit comp.

I hope I have answered all of your questions. If not I will check back tomorrow to clarify.
This is the first year of what will hopefully become an annual event, so we are still working out the kinks.
