The History of Full Tilt

I read in Freeskier magazine that full tils were around in the 80s, designed by a guy who designed boots for astronauts, and were reborn by the creator of Line skis.

On the website though, it says the copyright belongs to K2. does anyone know who actually owns Full Tilt?

FullTilt was recently bought by K2
however the original 3 buckle design was by Raichle, who however did the astronought stuff.
they explain some of it in the vids...

i had no idea that Line was owned by K2.

does Adidas own Salomon? i think i heard that somewhere. or maybe im just completely wrong...

well not just adidas in terms of shoes. adidas in general is a huge company. im gonna look it up right now.

In 1997, Adidas AG acquired the Salomon Group who specialized in ski wear, and its official corporate name was changed to Adidas-Salomon AG because with this acquisition Adidas also acquired the Taylormade Golf company and Maxfli which allowed them to compete with Nike Golf.

that is quoted from Wikipedia, which is totally unreliable, but i think i believe this.

A lot of ski companies, and skiing based companies are owned by a larger group. i.e. rossingol owned by the Quiksilver co-op, salomon by addias, and so on. 

It's weird, but the ski companies are sometimes brother/sister companies competing against each other, yet still are under one major corp.

but, i don't think that coreupt is owned by rossi, they just use the molds from dynastar skis. i'm pretty sure they are a seperate economic entity

Full tilts are just raichles reborn into a freestyle boot company. Its the same 3 piece mold that was bought by k2 in like 05 or something. So yea Full Tilt, K2, and Line are pretty much all together.

levinthal engineered the flexon mold purchase with k2s money. so in a round-a-bout way, they both worked it out

im not so sure thats true dude, I could be wrong but i highly doubt that k2 and volkl (2 real big companies and big competitors) are together. Actually, wait maybe it does make sense cuz im 100% positive that volkl and marker are together and marker also makes bindings for k2 carving skis like the apaches and shit. so idk what to think now

U guys have no idea who owns who eh, check Jarden Group who own K2 Inc as well as another 100 companies in all business avenues, check it out if you think its a single ski company, they also own a couple of other companies that are well hidden in their system like Elan, Dolomite and shit loads of others

Also forgot to mention that although Raichle started the flexon in 80's is was being made in the Dalbello factory, they had the license to make it for Raichle and yes K2 bought the rights to the mold a few years ago although not the actual name hence they had to rebrand it. K2 Inc didnt do anything with it until they purchased Line and then decided to run this project together so they can sell Line and Full Tilt together.

Whenever the manager at my ski hill sees me in my FT's, he stops me and tells me about the history of FT, Dalbello, and Raichlle... It has happened 3 times now. Looks like he is correct.

i think the best part of the Full Tilt story is how the designer who worked for Raichle designed astronaut boots for NASA. haha

K2 owns marker, volkl, tecnica, line, full tilt and some others

quiksilver sold rossignol to a private company with deeper pockets and more ski driven. Rossignol owns dynastar, lange, look. But dynastar still makes all the roxy skis and boots.

Adidas sold salomon to Amer Sports. Amer sports also owns Atomic. So Next year Atomic will be making salomon skis and Salomon will make Atomic boots and bindings.

Dalbello is still independantly owned by an italian company.

i think that should clear some things up.

From what i am told, it was actually the previous, private owner that bought them back. Like the guy who used to own Rossi before the Quiksilver purchase.

used to I think, Salomon is now oened by Amer Sports, which owns atomic and a whole bunch of other brands. I think they own mavic too.
