i hate this, because whenever im trying to do tricks, i cant frickin commit. im not saying im good, but damn, i hate it. i cant commit a 180. i know what im gonna get from this... 'pull your dick out of your cooch.'. let it go, if anyone has any good advice, id love hearing it

all I can say for committing to any trick is just do it, don't overthink it. I'm not saying you shouldn't mentally prepare for tricks but do that off the hill so when you get to the hill and you're standing at the top of the inrun you can just go and huck your shit instead of standing there forever getting more and more freaked out

Picture doing the WHOLE trick in your head, you've gotta visualise (spelling?) it.

It def helps heaps it you do this, that how i approach every jump/rail that i'm going to bust big on.

Also try shit into water, it hurts a lot less if you fuck up. Thats the way i learned spinning flip tricks ie:misty 9s and rodeos etc..

I dunno I have the same problem
I have a bit of an excuse (broke my back 2 seasons ago going inverted) and the doc lookin and my questionin how i was still walking afterwards That scared the shit outta me and I havent been able to do anything since.

I would rather be dead then unable to walk simple as that.


I have no troubles getting rails and what not its just the balls to go in the air upside down again.
Or even just big

It's all in your head. If you were doing them before and are having trouble now that means you are lacking confidence. Because your body knows how to do the trick, but doubt is preventing you from achieving it.

Visualize it ahead of time. Exactly what it's going to look like and what it's going to take for you to do the trick all the way through.

Charge the jump. Just do it. You have to push yourself out of the comfort zone, if you don't commit then you can't do it. Commit. Tell yourself what's the worse that can happen? Maybe your skis might pop off and you could slide in the snow. Big deal. If you crash, get back on your feet, hike up to that jump again and hit it now.. this time more energetic than ever. It doesn't matter if you crash 60 times. Tell yourself you're not going to give up no matter how many times you crash. When you stomp it, claim that jump. Make it your bitch.

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

you just gotta say fuck it. you are involved in a sport where it is quite a good possibility that you may get hurt. i know it sounds weird, but the more you fall, the less scared of it you will be. im not all that much scared of falling anymore, as i have done it many times. you learn how to fall, and how to prevent gettin hurt as much.

Anyways;
Like ghostdragon said... do it over and over and over until you do it. Another thing that might get you to land one is to say to one of your friends some thing like 'I promise if I don't land this trick today I'll buy your lunch today' If you are as cheap as me there is no way you'll wanna spend 10 bucks on your friend... and you will be forced to keep on it until you land it and you can keep your money.

Keep looking over your shoulder (especially over 180) and don't bring your head back. I had the same problem a couple of years ago. Just keep your head looking over your shoulder, and don't stop. It hurts a WHOLE lot more to psych out at the last second than to just do it.

hahaha^ but when u go off the kicker alot of people turn 180 as fast as they can and end up rolling down the windows on the jump, when u go off the kicker, turn 90, grab and stall as long as you can, and then right when the landing comes aorund go another 90 and land it looking at the lip of the jump(straight)

yeah, as someone said, visualize it off the mountian , then, once you get in the park, GO FOR IT. believe me, every second you sit there staring at that jump you're psyching yourself out more and more...go for it immediately
it's all about confidence. are you a confident person in other things? if so, just bring that to the mtn. if not, (also as someone else said) work on making yourslef an all aroud confident person

Practice spining on the ground just hopping and spinning around you need like a foot of air to do a 180. so u dont need that much so just do it man.

ya, pratice the 180 of littler jumps first man ,get the feeling. Falling on little shit is like falling on a pillow. Even big hits don't hurt too much unless you have your din too high. I messed up both ankles one fall with too high din. Just say fuck it and then huck it. I know it is harder to do than say, but if when you're at the top of the inrun, clear your mind of EVERYTHING, eve nthe jump, then go, start thinking of your trick right before you get to the hit, at this point there is almost no turning back. That's what i do when i am learning a trick i am scared shitless about trying.

hype yourself upt o everyone, liek go to the coolest people and say ya im pretty good at skiing i can pull this and that, and then they will be like 'prove it' and come ski with you, well when it comes time, your gonna tell yourself, well shi ti got myself into this i have to at least try something and make up an excuse afterwards, and well before you know it, you just pulled the trick, or something or otehr, and voila you have confidence...

Get a really hot girl to ski with you and you will throw all your tricks without thinking to impress her. This one time, I was sitting above a cliff with a sketched out icy landing under the chair, and I was just standing on the edge looking at the landing and getting freaked out, and then this girl yelled from the chair 'just do it' and I did, and I was fine. It helps to have that extra motivation.

The practice spins on the ground thing only goes so far. In your ski boots its alot different because you cant get much bend in your ankles at all.

I started inverts this year and I am fine with it, but I always freak for a minute when I hear these damn stories about people breaking their backs and shit. And it doesnt help when my parents say 'fine, I'll take good care of you when you're a parapolegic' Haha. It sucks everyone tries to freak me out. Then I go skiing and it's good.

my friend had the very same problem... he would always think bout the bad things that could happen... i just pushed and pushed him once he took a couple good diggers he learned that falling isn't that bad now he is getting better and better everyday

Yeah, I seem to have the same problem too in some ways. Like rails aren't even a commitment problem, I'm just bad, lol. Jumps even I'm allright, it seems to be this pipe thing tho. I go to pop off and end up half carving. Not like I'm afraid or anything, just have som emental block. Anyway it's all mental, that's my 2 cents.

here is the trick man: Stand above the jump, decide on the trick, like a 180. Invision it while standing above the jump. Count to 3 and go, NO MATTER WHAT! Know in your head that you are going to do it and land it. Do not have any second thoughts, cause thats what kills you. The counting to three really helped me to committ and just go for it. Hope that helps!

Dude, what about this: say the whole way to your mind that you arent gonna do a 180, but then right when you get to the lip you fake yourself out and do it anyway. That has always worked for me, and when Jason Ellis did that really big acid drop on guiness or whatever he said he did the same thing. I know it works for me....

its mostly just a mind game. to boost my confidence, i just train like a motherfucker. being in the best shape you can be in allows you to think youre the fucking best. so start running, swimming, bouncing on trampolines, going to the gym, or whatever you do to stay in shape.

hop some 180's on the flats.... just pump your knees hop up and ride switch... if you can do this you can do a 180. When you leave the lip of the jump just pretend your doing the same just no hop. just swing your arm across your body... my natural spin is right so i just cross my arm past my body and turn my body with it... you can kinda look under your arm to spot your landing and then stick it with steeze.
