i just got a new acl two days ago, so im on the road to recovery.  anyone else have surgery this season?

but seriously, this is going to suck. I 'm so behind on work AND schoolwork.. the surgery is going to fuck my shit up. at least I wouldn't be skiing anyways? look on the bright side I guess.

No, I'm doing hamstring replacement. Shit's real.

I've heard good and bad things about all of them, but I think hamsting is the way to go for me.

I got ACL and meniscus repair surgery Friday too. I got the Hamstring replacement, Doc said it was the best. Feelin super shitty right now, its worst pain I've ever experienced. 6 months I'll be back at it again.

I am three weeks out from ACl and Meniscus repair too.  I had a hybrid replacement with some hamstring from me and some donner tissue.

Hang in there the pain gets a lot better in the first week.  I am up and walking around in a locked brace and I get to do pt exercises.  Not skiing is the hardest part... and not working is rough on the budget.  Park crew is an impossible job for me currently so we're looking for a new job. 

Good luck to everyone else healing out there.  If any of you are in colorado hit me up

im still scheduling my surgery but ive started going to the gym trying to get some strength back into my quads and hams so i can be strong for surgery.

i tore my right meniscus last summer but it was pretty minor, my doctor was trying to let it heal on its on with a cortisone shot but i dont think it went to well so it has been giving me pain all season. i think i may have torn my left meniscus back in november/december and it has been giving me some grief too. i just cased an 80 foot jump here at mammoth on wednesday and bruised my heels and my knees are both pretty sore. im trying to just take it easy and let them heal so i can ski out the rest of the season then get the surgery in the summer if my doctor says i need it

I wish I could, but my knee still feels like it's going to buckle when I walk on it without a big brace.

The only stuff I am doing before surgery is simple bending of my knee to keep range of motion, they said I have to have 120 degrees of motion before I can get surgery.

My right leg is already noticeably smaller than my left. Not stoked.

yeah dude at this point if i pull my skin on my leg up, all i pull up is skin and no muscle so thats not good. my doc has me walking without a brace now, and i dont think my legs have been this weak since i started walking period.

just got my MRI moved forward to friday 13th (dun dun duuuuuuuuuuunh) instead of 2 months from now. i told them i was a professional skier and that i would get dropped if i didnt make a speedy recovery! dont know when the surgery is gonna be though.

the first day after surgery is awesome, youre all numb and shit and you feel grea. then the pain comes and you start taking drugs.

I had 5 days in between tearing it and surgery. I would do leg lifts, lay on the floor and try to straighten my leg, put my foot on a wall and slide it down trying to bend it. Then regular core exercises. My leg is already smaller.

man, ive had 3 injuries in my past 5 years of skiing, and all of them require surgeries. i tore my left acl 2 years ago and just yesterday i tore my right acl. i hope you feel better, because i know for the first 3 or 4 days after my acl reconstruction i was in so much pain i could barely even sleep

My MRI is tuesday, then I have my follow up a couple days later to figure out whats going on in there exactly. The way it feels I'm guessing its surgery.

yep I got surgery 3 weeks ago and it went really well. My doc says if your young not to do the cadaver and the hamstring usually results in 10 degrees less of motion in your leg so I thought it was the best way to go.

Its been a month since I dislocated my shoulder... I ripped it way out. It has not been healing as expected even with rehab. Had a nerve test today that showed a damaged scapula nerve that controls lifting the arm... however it is not severed which is good. MRI is on Thursday. Then we discuss surgery...

Yep, my season ended this past Sunday, Surgery to my shoulder, getting my Labrum reattached (bolted) back to it. Not really looking forward to it

well after surgery i had to wear my immobilizer for 10 weeks with the same amount of physical therapy and my shoulder still isnt as good as it was.

Went skiing yesterday for the first time since my acl replacement in June, so happy! Had the hamstring graft and some cartalige trimmed. Did not do near enough physio but its feeling as strong as ever 8 months on, and i can press more on my bad leg than on my good now :D
One hint- ask them NOT to put morphine into an epidural.. i've had morphine many times before, but after putting it in an epidural, it fucked my shit up and i couldn't piss all day, even after drinking a few cups of tea and loads of water.. catheters are not fun.

fractured my ankle jan 31st, had surgery feb 6th, 4 screws and a plate... currently stuck in a bed then crutches for 6 weeks. physical therapy will follow. im done for the season

Positive vibes to everyone in here. This might open up a can of worms but do you guys think all these ski related surgeries are really worth it..........like fucking up your knees is not chill and pushing yourself in the park or wtv is probably the reason it happened. this sport is mad fucking dangerous, i say this because i had a concussion recently and it was bad....got me thinking about the dangerous shit i do and if its really worth it
