While the Bobcats were all about defense as they pursued their third consecutive Class I title, the goals had to come from somewhere.

And the senior with the hard shot delivered, winding up with 16 goals and a team-high 10 assists. He formed one of the most potent one-two combinations up front with sophomore Kevin Pope, who led the squad with 22 goals.

A fine set-up player as well as a finisher, Melvin was named second-team All-Class L.

'He’s got pace,' OR coach Tom Johnson said. 'He was very cooperative in terms of what was being asked. The combination of he and Kevin was certainly potent. They worked hard for each other.'

oh, and I did almost play field hockey in middle school. I was asked to cuase I played hockey at the time, adn they needed more, but they ahd just gotten new skirts, so i would've had to wear one...

Kinda wish i had played though...

i dont get why people think soccer is a 'sissy' sport. i dont play it, but it seems like there are more injuries in soccer than most other sports.

congratulations sexy boy. Heh, I agree soccer is an intense game. Whenever the refs weren't looking people would clothesline each other. I remember one time I went for the ball and this big black guy came up to me and socked me right in the face. When half time came around the field turned into an all out brawl. One kid on my team kicked that same big black guy in the face with his cleats. The game was called off.

Congrats Pat. Yeah, soccer's brutal. There are more deaths and injuries in soccer than any other sport, but that may have to do with the fact that it's the widest-spread and most played sport in the world. In Costa Rica, there was stuff EVERYWHERE about it. They have soccer fields everywhere, even in the most remote places, and I'm not talking the nice groomed shit we have in the US. It's all mud and VERY uneven with huge ass pot holes and rocks and shit everywhere, and goals made from trees. Latin Americans... Those crazy motherfuckers!

^not quite but i agree it can be dangerous. I hate the sport, thats all people do in England, and we aren't very good at it. Rugby however, is a real sport.
