Replying to D90 stuff

so my dad is looking to get a dslr, and was thinking about the d90. he used to shoot alot on film, and has some good slrs from back in the day, and lots of good glass as well. this would be his first dslr though. hes been researching it for a while, and is pretty set on it. good thing about this is that i would be able to use it a whole lot. i'll be shooting some random stuff, biking, and skiing too with it. i'm not super well versed with dslrs, but know some basics, and my dad would definitely help me out. i'm pretty curious about the video capabilities of the camera. i have seen some decent vids shot with it, and it looks pretty awesome for a primarily still camera. i know for real quality a full time vid cam would be better, but since im strapped for cash and my dad is probably getting the d90, i was wondering how viable it is for shooting skiing. i wouldnt be doing anything super good, most likely filming backyard sessions, maybe the odd day on the hill. id be shooting more stills, but would like to shoot some vids too.
