Ok so I had an older Subaru and it recently blew up on me so I'm searching for a new car. Now I have roughly $7000 to spend maybe more but the cheaper the better. I will be moving to Colorado next year for good so I'm going to need it to be able to get me to and from the mountain. So AWD would be best. I love Subarus but I'm not sure which kind I would like a wagon but will take a sedan. I've been searching and searching for Subarus so I was wondering are there any other good cars in my price range that will last me 5+ years. The car needs to be atleast a 2002 for my bank to give me a good rate. So I need some suggestions OTHER THAN A SUBARU. Any advice will be great. +karma to all answers.
if awd/4wd is a must check out crv's in that range, tehyll never die. look for other subys, audi's would be dope but for that price its gonna cost a lot to keep running/ingood condition.
i just got an 02 mazda protege hatchback. it's pretty sick, and has a big back seat area and the seats fold down so you can have sex in the back. (which is a must for any high schooler or college go-er)
it's also got an extra support bar over the engine that tightens up handling and suspension ALOT, which makes the car feel wicked tight around turns and it doesn't feel like your leaning over to one side. it kind of makes me want to race it though... so speeding gets encouraged.
It gets good mileage (25mpg around town) and the tank fills for 20$ right now. Standard is the way to go btw.
I give this car an A for functionality and fun.
we got it for around 6k
It's called a strut bar, and they are more for cosmetics than anything. They are nice, but unless you are going crazy around a turn with a fully tuned suspension and sway bars you won't notice a difference.
Mazda's are pretty sick tho, I love the speed 6's.
Yeah strut bars don't do much unless your rocking like 3 of them and tie bars.
I think the Toyota Matrix comes in AWD for some reason. I would go for a WRX though just get a sort of old one. Or you could try to find an old Audi A4 I'm prety sure some of those came with AWD.
Jeep Grand Cherokees kick ass, the fuel milage isn't great but they'll truck through just about anything. I have battled a couple feet in mine, you can't even feel it.
With the kind of performance engines that a WRX/STI has you want one in good condition. If you've had one that has a ton of miles and has been driven to hell and back then you could be putting a ton of money into repairs and the like.
Meh I do my own repairs and the boxer engines are pretty legit they last a long time. Just the trannies you have to worry about. Plus theres always the spoiled rich kid who just destroys the interior of a car.
alright i am only going to offer this to you once, there is a subaru plant down the road from me, and a friend of mines dad works their,
i can get you a brand new suby with all the bells and whistles for 12g's..... 8grand to the guy and 4 to me... but you have to pay up front, and if we cant get through security you have to bail at least me out and take the blame....
