Today, some unknowing guy triggered a slide on the flypaper at glencoe ski area. From the information i have gathered the flypaper was closed all day because of high avalanche danger (CAT 4). What is disturbing is, there wasn’t any thing on the top station information board warning people about the conditions apparently. But, there was a warning on the mid station information board about the F.P been closed due to high avalanche danger. What good is having the warning on the mid station, but not the top as well?
There was high winds, with snow what fell over night has formed deep accumulation of windslab in sheltered locations. The greatest accumulations are on north-east through south to westerly aspects and in all sheltered gullies. – I SEE RED FLAGS HERE, DO YOU.
It’s not the first time this winter that, some clueless goon as skied the flypaper when the avalanche danger is high. This really shows you, how clueless people are about the dangers right now. The red flags were there, telling him that the snowpack was unstable. Plus it looks like he never had any of the basic avalanche gear either.
