Steady follow cam?

Ok, here's my question, is it possible to make a non-pro follow cam without resulting to high costs and still get a steady shot?

or a diy stabilizer like said above.

in the rare ocasion i do follow cams sometimes i put my camera on my tripod and tuck it under my arm and its kinda like a big gun. i dunno hah

you cant rely on fixing everything in post. the better the raw the better off youll be in life in general

yeah it doesn't seem too bad, a friend of mine recomended just using a tripod? does that work? I guess ill find out this weekend

 it all has to do with a steady hand. and snowplowing while trying to follow someone makes it pretty tough to keep it steady.

if you want something real cheap I'd just try to creak something heavy that would hang down about a foot from your camera (firmly attached, not like by string or something) which would probably make holding it with the handle a little smoother. I've never actually tried that I just thought of it... so you should do it and let me know if it works! word.

lol. I saw some guys at northstar that made this hole handle thing out of pvc pipes. it looked like a steering wheel with a camera in the middle.

i made a dope handle out of a curved handle off of a whipper-snipper, with a nice rubber grip.

then i pulled a camera mount off of a shitty tripod and slid it onto the curved metal handle and it works pretty well!

except for that i slipped and fell down the stairs then broke it.

what doesn't the metal houses it in an easy to cary through air shel and the string absorbs shock, I use it all the time and it works

It's like have a handle on your camera, sweet. That string doesn't do shit, the camera is still gonna move when you move your arm.

obviously you want to film as good as possible, but with after effects you can do some pretty great stabilizations in post, its done wonders for me in the past, especially since i shoot hd but make movies in sd so zoomings not a problem

The string just absorbs vibrations, you'll have to dump a ton of money if you want it to eliminate arm movement, he was a poor mans solution
