08 Atomic Punx vs. 08 Liberty Phil Larose

I've found both of these skis at a shop and both for a pretty low price. But... I have not skied either ski and have been reading reviews and such.  Just wondering what NS thinks of these two skis because more often than not the reviews you read are very biased.  So if you have ridden either one let me know what you think of the skis.

i ride the punxs and i love them. They have the perfect flex, poppy, and they seem pretty durable so far.

the punx are sick skis. but i fucking blew up the core after 2 weeks of riding, and they wouldnt warantee them. so i have to buy new skis and im using 05 troublemakers in the mean time. not very legit on atomics end

I have the 178 larose's and I'm 5'8" 165 so they're about the biggest i'd go with a park ski, but i like them. They're the lightest ski i've ever skied, or really even picked up for that matter. For me they're stable without being burly, if you will. They're still playful when you feel like it, yet still have a good amount of pop. I think i caught the tip on a janky box and that kind of tore little bit of the top sheet back (maybe the size of a nickel or so) but i gorilla glued it back down and haven't had any troubles with it since. I have two edge cracks about an inch apart from each other, its been like that for about 2 weeks and so far the edges are still holding up great. I haven't ridden the punx though so i coudn't tell ya how they compare, but i hope this helps. Over all a good middle of the road ski in stability and playfulness. I would recommend them.

The Punx are a sick jib ski, however, for jumps and all mountain riding I like the Larose a lot more. Don't get me wrong though, you can still butter the hell out of the Larose, it's just a little stiffer than the Punx.

I just got my 178 Larose's today...


I can't wait to ski them. They look like so much fun.

I broke mine as well. Atomic doesnt stand behind their product. Go with the Larose's

Thats funny because when i broke mine (heelpiece pulled out and snapped the core) they warrantied mine and actually sent me (at the time) next years skis (i had 07-08 they gave me 08-09s)

Just a few more things I have to add. Liberty's 3 year warranty is killer. And as far as feel while riding the larose they are a medium flex ski, but have the most pop out of any ski I have ever felt.

I say Larose hands down.
